At the Chicago Auto Show, Kia introduced a new version of the sleek Optima sedan that's loaded with upgraded equipment and luxury appointments. The Optima SX Limited is a range-topping model that brings details like unique chrome wheels and exterior accents, fine interior materials and many options available on the already well-equipped Optima SX.

The Limited model, available in Kia showrooms next month, is finished in one of three colors - Ebony Black, Snow White Pearl or Titanium Metallic. Distinguishing the Limited from lesser models are LED daytime running lights, chrome accents on the lower door sills and spoiler, and red-painted brake calipers behind new, 18-inch chrome wheels.

Inside, the exclusive upgrades to the Limited continue with rich Nappa leather seats and door panels and wood trim on the steering wheel, shift knob and door panels. Upgraded fabric covers the headliner, pillars and visors.

Several comfort and convenience features that are sold as options on the SX are standard on the Limited. A panoramic sunroof, voice-activated navigation with rear camera display, heated and cooled front seats and a premium 8-speaker Infinity sound system are all included. The Limited also gets performance-minded touches like a sport-tuned suspension, paddle shifters and metal pedals.

The Optima SX Limited is powered by a turbocharged and direct-injected 2-liter engine good for 274 horsepower. With a six-speed automatic transmission, the Limited returns acceptable estimated fuel economy of 22 mpg in the city and excellent highway fuel economy of 34 mpg.

While Kia has not yet released pricing for the Limited, a loaded Optima SX carries an MSRP just north of $30,000. The Limited model may be a good choice for buyers that like the Optima's sporty styling but seek a vehicle with the upscale trappings typically reserved for high-end brands.

What it means to you: Kia's latest version of the Optima, the SX Limited, is loaded with luxury equipment and some details not available further down the range.
