This year’s New York Auto Show features several new luxury vehicles. First, there’s the new Lexus ES 300h. Based on the recently redesigned Toyota Camry, the ES is a luxury hybrid sedan, something Lexus is becoming known for. The new ES look is more contemporary and even a little aggressive – at least by Lexus standards. Expect the Lexus ES 300h to get 39 mpg in combined city and highway driving.
Acura’s new flagship sedan gets a name change and is bigger than the previous car. What was the Acura RL is now the Acura RLX. Thanks to hybrid technology, the RLX should get 30 mpg in both the city and on the highway. The RLX also gets parent company Honda’s Super-Handling All-Wheel drive system (SH-AWD) for improved handling.
BMW’s 640i Gran Coupe will soon be available in the US. It features a powerful six-cylinder engine and that’s connected to an eight-speed transmission. BMW says that transmission will help reduce fuel consomption. Look for this sleek looking BMW to go on sale in June of 2012.
The Mercedes-Benz GLK gets a few upgrades too. The changes are subtle with a fresher looking front end and new LED light out back. There’s also a new instrument panel that now similar to that of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Although most changes aren’t obvious, Mercedes says the updated GLK has more than 1,000 new parts.
