Deals on SUVs: January Edition

Although much of the country has experienced a mild winter so far, inclement weather may be just around the corner – and for many consumers, that could mean now is the right time to trade in an old car on a capable new SUV. We’ve searched through many automakers’ special offers and incentives, locating the best deals for car shoppers looking for an SUV that can fight the snow this season and for many winters to come.

Chevrolet Suburban

Although the Suburban nameplate has been in continuous use for more than 70 years, today’s model remains among the most desirable thanks to its vast array of features, comfortable ride and cavernous interior. Through February 29, consumers can take advantage of some great deals on the SUV including zero percent interest for up to 72 months or $3,500 cash back on remaining 2011 inventory. For buyers who want this year’s model, Chevrolet says the 2012 Suburban is available with 3.9 percent interest for up to 60 months or cash back offers of up to $1,000. All are great deals on one of the best large SUVs in the business.

Ford Escape

With Ford’s compact Escape destined for replacement this year, the automaker is doing its best to sell down remaining inventory of the current model. That makes for some great deals, including up to $2,500 cash back on all 2012 models or up to $3,000 cash back on remaining 2011 inventory. Ford is also offering zero percent interest rates for up to 60 months to qualified customers interested in financing their Escape – a number that includes up to $1,000 cash back for shoppers willing to scoop up a leftover 2011 model. While it’s nearing the end of its life cycle, the Escape remains a great deal for SUV buyers who want a capable, dependable vehicle for this winter and beyond.

Jeep Wrangler

Jeep’s go-anywhere Wrangler is available with two attractive deals for buyers eager to tackle some tough terrain in their next vehicle. Consumers looking to finance their Wrangler can get zero percent interest for up to 36 months, while lease customers can take advantage of monthly payments starting at just $249 per month with $2,499 due at signing for the traditional two-door Wrangler, or $359 per month with $2,499 at signing for the more practical four-door Wrangler Unlimited. Unfortunately, the automaker has no cash back offer on the rugged SUV, though other Jeep models are available with a slew of money back deals ranging from $1,000 on the new Grand Cherokee to up to $3,000 on the 2012 Liberty.

Nissan Rogue

Nissan’s popular Rogue SUV is known for its soft, curvy styling and efficient four-cylinder powerplant. Through January 31, qualified car shoppers interested in remaining 2011 models can get interest rates as low as zero percent for up to 60 months, or take up to $1,500 cash back on the recently revised SUV. Nissan is offering a similar deal on 2012 Rogues, though the newer model year causes the cash back offer to drop to just $750. For consumers interested in leasing, Nissan says a 2012 Rogue S can be had for just $249 per month after an initial payment of $2,999 at lease signing.

Toyota Venza

Toyota’s midsize Venza crossover is available with several attractive offers through the end of January. According to the automaker, cash buyers willing to consider a remaining 2011 model can take up to $1,000 back, while qualified buyers interested in financing can get rates as low as zero percent for 36 months, or 1.9 percent for 60 months. Toyota is also offering attractive lease deals on the crossover, with monthly payments starting at just $269 with $2,999 due at signing. All three offers are great deals on the Camry-based Venza, which features a standard 182-horsepower four-cylinder or optional 268-horsepower 3.5-liter V6.

Volkswagen Touareg

Volkswagen’s recently redesigned Touareg SUV is available with several great deals through the end of January. According to the automaker, remaining 2011 models are offered with zero percent interest for up to 72 months, while even the latest 2012 Touaregs are available to qualified buyers with zero percent rates for up to 60 months. Volkswagen says a 36-month lease on the Touareg V6 is also available for just $539 per month with $2,999 due at signing – a great deal for a vehicle whose price tag tops $43,000 before options.

What it means to you: Several automakers are offering great deals on their SUVs to get January sales off to a strong start.
