[Update to Editor’s Note: Two years in with the paint protection film on my wife’s Mazda CX-30, and the car still looks fantastic. We had a harsh winter in Michigan, and even though the car spends its nights in a garage, it was exposed to some severe weather. A quick bath at the self-service car wash in town, and the surfaces look glossy and new again. We’re only noticing a small amount of fraying on the nose of the car, and on the left rear wheel well where the Mazda may have scraped against the garage door frame a little on a misjudged entry one time. Ceramic coating prices do vary greatly especially region by region. But as far as California prices go those were extremely accurate considering a mild fluctuation between detailers and shops. prices for ceramic coating vary so much that i believe you are spreading false information. In my experience, prices are much higher than what is shown on here. However, it depends on brand.
You’re right about price differences between brands, Garrett. The price range for entry-level products and top-quality coatings is significant, even with products made by the same company. So, I don’t think the article is misleading, and it says there are many factors that contribute to cost fluctuations.
