SX Turbo models get a turbocharged direct-injection 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, and front-wheel-drive versions can achieve 21 mpg city/26 mpg hwy, while all-wheel-drive models get 20 mpg city/23 mpg hwy.

With just a slightly taller stance than a comparably sized sedan, the compact crossover is more comfortable, offers greater visibility and nearly matches the performance and fuel economy of its trunk-laden cousins. Add in greater utility and available all-wheel drive like the Sportage has, and you’ve got a winning combination. The Sportage impresses with good handling and a quiet, composed ride. LX and EX models, with a 2.4-liter engine that produces 181 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque, deliver more than adequate acceleration and have no problem skirting through traffic and merging onto fast-moving freeways.
