For 2019, the Jeep Cherokee offers three engine options: a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder, a normally-aspirated 2.4-liter 4-cylinder, and a 3.2-liter V6. 4-wheel drive is available with all three engines, but regardless of choice, the only transmission is a somewhat dubious 9-speed automatic that has proven problematic for Jeep owners.

Active Drive I also includes the Selec-Terrain system with modes for Snow, Sport, Sand/Mud, and Auto. When equipped with the V6 and the Trailer Tow Package, the Cherokee can tow up to 4,500 pounds. Standard towing with the 2.4-liter engine is 2,000 pounds. 
The Latitude may be the entry-level trim, but it comes with some surprising features, such as LED automatic headlights, LED fog lights, and active grille shutters that close to help improve aerodynamics at highway speeds. The Latitudes standard 17-inch steel wheels may not be glamorous but are less prone to damage versus lighter alloy wheels. Other exterior features worth mentioning include power mirrors, remote keyless entry, bright roof rails, and tinted solar glass. The Latitude’s comfort and convenience features include manual air conditioning, a tilt/telescoping steering, power windows, power door locks, manual 6-way driver and passenger seats, cloth upholstery, and a 60/40 split-folding rear seat. The Latitude Plus adds heated side mirrors, 17-inch alloy wheels, upgraded cloth and vinyl seats, an 8-way power driver’s seat with 4-way power lumbar support, and one-touch up/down front windows. Cruise control is also standard, as is a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls. Jeep’s Keyless Enter’ n Go proximity key allows you to unlock the door and start the car with only the key fob in your purse or pocket. A push-button start is also standard, and the Uconnect infotainment system gains SiriusXM satellite radio. Optional equipment for the Latitude Plus includes a dual-pane panoramic power sunroof and the Active Drive II 4WD system with low range and neutral mode. Music lovers will want the 9-speaker 506-watt Alpine audio upgrade. The Comfort and Convenience Group adds a power liftgate, remote start, auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a 115-volt outlet.
