My Favorite Ford Maverick Tremor Features

A familiar expression goes like this: “It’s the answer to a question no one was asking.” The Ford Maverick is the exact opposite of that saying and appears to be the answer to a question many people were asking. Specifically, “Where can I find a good small pickup that’s affordable and can handle most everyday tasks?” Ford graciously raised its collective hand and introduced the Ford Maverick for the 2022 model year. Here are my favorite features on the 2024 Ford Maverick Tremor.
The Look
I love the Maverick’s simple yet stylish look, especially up front. However, Tremor versions get unique styling cues. Orangey-gold accent wheels, an orange bar across the front grille with matching tow hooks, a bright “Tremor” decal on both sides of the bed, bright “XLT” or “Lariat” badges on both sides of the cab (and on the seats), dark gray 17-inch wheels, and a raised ride height. The headlight and taillight lenses are smoked, too. It reminds me of the old Ranger with cool wheels. Small truck/tough look has always been a favorite of mine. The Tremor badging is prominent inside, too. I think the 2024 version looks better with slightly sharper lines.
Tremor Gear
The Tremor Off-Road Package ($3,495) includes functional features in addition to the cosmetic features. The package includes fairly rugged Falken tires, an extra inch of ground clearance (9.4 inches), unique lower front fascia, steel skid plate, and a drive mode selector to help make the Maverick Tremor scrappier than a normal Maverick. Mud & Ruts, Sand, Slippery, and a feature that lets you maintain a set low speed, which is helpful when the pavement ends. Part of the package is the Advanced 4WD all-wheel drive system with Trail Control with what Ford calls “off-road tailored front and rear suspension” which makes it all work.
EcoBoost Engine
While the front-wheel-drive hybrid with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine makes plenty of muscle for everyday use with 191 horsepower, it’s the 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine with 250 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque that makes the Tremor fun both on and off-road. The EcoBoost engine is also linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission and not a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) like the hybrid.
Mild but Attractive Graphics
While the real off-road hardware is found in the Tremor package, part of that package (for 2024) is body graphics. The graphics on the hood and lower doors are gray with a matte finish. They look good and are not too overpowering. Thankfully, there is a graphics delete option. If you want a cleaner-looking truck, delete the hood and lower door graphics. Then again, I think the 2024 update is classier.
Affordable Price
The Maverick is an excellent everyday pickup with a base price of $25,410, including the destination charge. An available hybrid powertrain is $1,500 more. But opting for the Tremor, an off-road friendly package that can be added to XLT and Lariat versions of the Maverick, means the more powerful, standard 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine. The Tremor Off-Road Package adds $3,495 to the price. You do not have to add the luxury package for XLT Tremor, but you do have to opt for the EcoBoost engine and Co-Pilot360 Package. Related:
