<h4>5 Thoughts About the 2024 Infiniti QX60</h4>

Pleasant. Agreeable. Nice. The words that jump to mind when driving the 2024 Infiniti QX60 aren’t passionate. They’re all praise. And they’re all a little muted. Some luxury automakers have strong personalities that you instantly understand. BMWs are performance-oriented. Lexus vehicles are smooth as butter. Others are a little harder to define. Infiniti (think fancy Nissan) has long been an earnest, straight-A student who didn’t quite know what she wanted to do when she grew up. The brand’s midsize 3-row SUV, the QX60, earns high marks in most classes. However, it’s hard to pinpoint precisely what sets it apart.

In a week of testing, I fell in like, but not love. The QX60 is a solid all-around player that would make a good choice for many buyers. If prices are reasonable and dealers offer incentives when you’re car shopping, you might want to give it a test drive. It might suit your family well for several years. You’ll want to comparison-shop this one. It won’t insist on coming home with you. My tester was a top-of-the-line Autograph edition in a 2-tone scheme with Deep Bordeaux red beneath and Black Obsidian above. The seats were upholstered in Graphite quilted semi-aniline leather and shared space with black open-pore ash wood trim. The new asking price was $69,145, including the mandatory $1,350 delivery fee.

<h4>1. A-Grade Handling, B-Grade Transmission</h4> 

The QX60 feels smaller than it looks. Its light, precise handling makes it easier to live with than the average 3-row SUV. The Infiniti offers a serene highway driving experience, helped by excellent sound dampening. So why am I not in love with its performance? Because the QX60 is a little more sluggish than it should be when pulling away from a stoplight. Its 295-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 has more than enough power to move a car this size easily but hesitates at low ranges before catching its breath and surging to highway speed. It almost feels like it suffers from turbo lag, but the QX60 doesn’t have a turbocharger. So what’s the (literal) hesitation? The 9-speed automatic transmission seems to rob the engine of some low-end torque. Infiniti could probably fix this issue by reworking the transmission. Many buyers won’t mind the hesitation. Automotive journalists comparing cars to one another probably mash the accelerator all the way more often than you would on your way to work. However, tell this one to run, and it walks a few steps, then it jogs, and then it starts to sprint.

<h4>2. The Autograph Trim Adds Real Elegance</h4> 

The difference between the mid-level Sensory trim and the top-of-the-line Autograph edition is the difference between Business and First Class. The stat sheet adds goodies like second-row captain’s chairs, a removable second-row console, and the Tow Package as standard equipment. But the real magic is quilted semi-aniline leather on the perforated seats and dashboard. With contrast-color stitching, it looks and feels significantly more luxurious. I even found myself getting picky that the diamond-quilt stitching on the dashboard was a deep graphite color while the thread on the doors was a lighter gray, and I might have preferred it all one shade. You know designers have upped the luxury ante when you’re wondering whether to quibble over the shades of thread.

<h4>3. The Warnings Could Be a Little More Intrusive</h4>

Many luxury cars over-alert you with so many beeps and dings that you don’t know what they all mean. The QX60 is blissfully restrained. It will sound a tone to warn you of crossing traffic that might hit you as you back out of a parking space. It won’t bother you with much more than that. I found myself wondering, though, if Infiniti had turned the volume down too much. The rear seat reminder consists of a silent text note in the driver’s instrument cluster reminding you to check for passengers and articles before leaving the car. It’s so discreet that, in that one case, it’s not doing its job.

<h4>4. Second-row Passengers Get in on the Luxury</h4>

If you’ll be hauling clients, or just adults or adult-sized teenagers in the second row, they’ll be happy there. The QX60 gives them control over their climate zone, USB charging ports for their phones, headliner-mounted air vents, and reclining seats. Pull-down window shades help them manage their temperature, too.

<h4>5, The Third Row Is Easy to Reach but not Useful for Adults</h4>

I can’t praise the third row as much. It’s easy to reach – a powered one-touch tilt-and-slide feature means you can tap a button and watch the second-row captain’s chairs move to let third-row passengers in and out. However, once they’re back there, they’ll find just 28 inches of legroom – less than in a comparable Acura MDX, Lexus TX, or Genesis GV80. The QX60’s third row is only suitable for small children or occasional use on short trips.

<h4>The Takeaway</h4>

The 2024 Infiniti QX60 is a pleasant, agreeable 3-row midsize SUV. It shares a platform with the more mainstream Nissan Pathfinder, and some of its more unremarkable characteristics probably stem from the fact that this is a dressy Nissan. But, in Autograph form, it’s a very well-dressed Nissan. I’d give it a test drive if I were in the market for a well-rounded 3-row luxury SUV. However, it’s not an obvious buy in a competitive class.
