The Kia K5 debuted in <a href="https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/2021/kia/k5" target="_blank">2021</a> replacing the <a href="https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/kia/optima" target="_blank">Kia Optima</a> (2000 - 2021) as the core midsize sedan for the brand and seeks to build upon the 20+ year success the Optima had. Unlike the Optima though, the K5 grew in size and now has a meaner and more aggressive stance with its fastback roof-line which gives the car a stylish silhouette. As with most Kia models, the K5 comes well-equipped with plenty of safety features such as automatic emergency braking (w/ pedestrian and cyclist protection), a driver-attention alerting and lane assist. <a href="https://www.autotrader.com/car-shopping/apple-carplay-vehicles-list" target="_blank">Wireless Apple CarPlay</a> is included on those versions with the smaller touchscreen and the list of technology features in the 2022 model is impressive. <a href="https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/awd-4wd/kia/k5" target="_blank">All-wheel-drive (AWD)</a> is optional on the K5 but unlike the Optima, there is no hybrid or plug-in-hybrid version. The editors at Autotrader liked the K5 so much, we named it as one of the best new cars for 2021. Average fuel economy will be between 24mpg city - 38mpg highway depending on the version you buy. The K5 has a good sized interior, is sleek and speedy. For the money, the K5 is tough to beat.
