The <a href="https://www.autotrader.com/bmw" target="_blank">BMW</a> M6 had a brief production run in the last few years of the 1980s before it returned to the market nearly two decades later. The first-generation M6, the E24, came with the same 3.6L inline six-cylinder engine found in the <a href="https://classics.autotrader.com/classic-cars-for-sale/1988-bmw-m5-for-sale" target="_blank">E28 M5</a>. In the early 2000s, BMW revived the long-lost M6 nameplate and created the <a href="https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/bmw/m6?endYear=2010&amp;startYear=2006" target="_blank">E63 M6</a>. The M6 features BMW's legendary 5.0L V10 engine that produces 500 horsepower and 383 lb-ft torque. While the later M6 models may feature more performance, it's hard to put a price on the glorious sounds of the 5-liter V10 engine approaching its 8,250 RPM redline.

The second generation BMW M6 was available in coupe and convertible body styles. While the third-generation M6 would introduce the four-door Gran Coupe model. The <a href="https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/bmw/m6-gran-coupe" target="_blank">M6 Gran Coupe</a> was slightly longer, and the extra size mainly made the back seat a more comfortable place to spend time and increased the seating capacity from four to five.

The <a href="https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/bmw/m6?endYear=2019&amp;startYear=2012" target="_blank">F13 M6</a> brings in the era of forced induction with a twin-turbo 4.4L V8 engine. While the horsepower received a modest bump compared to the previous powerplant, the torque increased by more than 30% (119 LB-FT). The extra power rockets the M6 to sixty miles per hour in nearly four seconds flat.
