The 2020 BMW X5 M comes in regular and Competition models. The
X5 M ($106,095) comes with 21-in alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlights, automatic high beams, LED daytime running lights and taillights, keyless entry and ignition, selectable driving modes, rain-sensing wipers,
forward-collision mitigation with automatic emergency braking, active blind spot monitoring, a self-parking function with a 360-degree camera system and front and rear parking sensors, M aerodynamic body pieces, an M-tuned adaptive suspension, M Compound brakes, an active M Sport differential, active roll stabilization, roof rails, heated side mirrors, four exhaust tailpipes, a panoramic moonroof with a powered sunshade, extended leather upholstery (including a leather-covered dashboard), heated 18-way power adjustable front sport seats with memory settings, a heated steering wheel, heated front armrests, a power adjustable steering column,
quad-zone automatic climate control, self-dimming rearview and driver's-side mirrors, 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats, a powered lift gate with hands-free operation, ambient LED cabin lighting, a universal garage door opener, a 12.3-in digital driver information display with M View mode, gesture control, a full-color head-up display, a 12.3-in infotainment touchscreen, a navigation system with real-time traffic updates, two USB-C ports, Bluetooth phone and audio capability,
Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, wireless charging capability, Wi-Fi connectivity, 32 gigabytes of multimedia storage, satellite and HD radio and a 16-speaker, 600-watt Harman Kardon surround sound system. The
X5 M Competition ($115,095) adds the extra horsepower, puts 22-in alloy wheels on the rear axle (the front wheels are still 21 inches), swaps in an M sport exhaust system, puts extra knee padding on the side of the center console and enhances the digital driver information display with a Track mode. From the options list, the Driving Assistance Professional package is well worth selecting. It includes
adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, automatic lane changing, partial
self-steering with the Traffic Jam Assistant, front cross-traffic alert and evasive steering assistance. The Executive package brings a remote start function, soft-closing doors, heated and ventilated massaging front seats, heated rear seats, manually operated sunshades for the rear side windows, heated and cooled cup holders and adaptive LED headlights using Laserlight technology. Also among the options is an M Driver's package that raises the top speed to 177 mph and includes a day's tuition in high-performance driving at one of BMW's selected tracks, a rear-seat entertainment setup with dual 9.2-in displays, night vision with pedestrian detection and a 20-speaker, 1,500-watt Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system. The non-Competition X5 M may also be fitted with 22-in wheels at the rear. The Competition offers a leather and simulated suede (Alcantara) upholstery alternative. Cargo space runs from 33.9 to 72.3 cu ft, depending on whether the rear seats are folded or not.
