Honda Civic Hybrid (4th Generation: 2025 - Current)

After a decade of being out of production, the <a href="https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/honda/civic">Honda Civic</a> Hybrid returns with more power and fuel efficiency than ever before. For the first time, the Civic Hybrid is available as a hatchback, which improves utility. Cargo capacity when the rear seats are up increases by 65% from 14.8 to 24.5 cubic feet. Both body styles of the Civic Hybrid deliver 50 mpg city, and the sedan has a 2 mpg advantage on the highway at 47 vs. 45 mpg. Overall fuel economy is 49 mpg combined for the sedan and 48 mpg combined for the hatchback.

Under the hood is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 200 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque that achieves a zero-to-60 time in the low six seconds. For reference, previous generations of the Honda Civic Hybrid had a 0-60 time ranging from 10 – 13 seconds. It’s safe to say that the Sport and Sport Touring trim levels are living up to their name by delivering strong performance numbers.

Drivers looking for a quieter and more luxurious ride will want to consider the Sport Touring trim level. This top-of-the-line trim features wheel resonators that help reduce the transfer of road noise into the cabin. Interior upgrades include a 12-speaker Bose audio system, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment, wireless phone charging, and leather seats.

Honda Civic Hybrid (3rd Generation: 2012 - 2015)

Key Improvements: The Civic Hybrid now makes 110 horsepower and 127 lb-ft of torque, thanks to a larger 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that improves mid-range torque. The hybrid battery now uses lithium-ion batteries instead of the nickel-metal hydride batteries used in earlier generations. The battery capacity increases by 30% from 15 kW to 20 kW. The larger battery improves the combined fuel economy by roughly 5% from 42 to 44 MPG over the second-generation Civic Hybrid.

The unique two-tier dashboard carries over from the previous generation and helps display key data front and center to minimize time spent looking at the instrument cluster. Model Updates: For the 2009 model year, the Civic Hybrid receives a styling update, including a new front bumper, grille, headlights, and taillights. The Cylinder Idling System closes the intake and exhaust valves on three of the four cylinders, reducing drag and allowing the generator to provide maximum resistance to produce more electricity.

Model Updates: In 2004 the Honda Civic Hybrid received a subtle exterior styling refresh that includes new front and rear bumpers, hood, grille, and headlights. Interior changes include adjustable outboard rear headrests, an improved audio system, and a new seat fabric pattern.
