Yugo was a Yugoslavian automaker that comprised of just one vehicle in the U.S. called the GV, but is known to many as simply the “Yugo.” The Yugo has an unfortunate reputation as being one of the worst cars ever made, but that is just part of the charm. The Yugo was a subcompact hatchback that was supposed to serve as an even more affordable alternative to already affordable cars in the 1980s and it had the distinction of being the cheapest car in America. Yugos were only imported to the States between 1985-1992 selling a total of 141,651 units in that time. The Yugo was small, uncomfortable, slow, and just plain cheap in every way, but it sure does have a lot of character and we guarantee you’ll get a lot of attention if you drive one around today.
