The 2022 Chevrolet Equinox returns with some minor freshening and a new RS trim level. Chevy has also dropped the base L trim level.
Historically, Equinox sales have been strong despite the crowded field in which it competes.
Rivals include the Toyota RAV4, the Honda CR-V, and the Ford Escape.

For 2022, Chevy offers the Equinox in LS, LT, RS, and Premier trims. The returning LS, LT, and Premier grades are lower in price than last year by $400-$600.
Up front, a new grille and new LED headlights highlight the changes. The front and rear bumpers are new, as well.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now standard across all Equinox trims.
Visually, the all-new RS grade stands out for its black exterior trim, 19-inch dark wheels, black interior with red stitching, and unique shifter knob.
However, some significant RS standard content additions include LT optional Confidence and Convenience Package features, including dual-zone automatic climate control, additional driver aids, and more.
Sourcing its power from a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, the Equinox spurs engine output to the wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.
It makes 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. With front-wheel drive (FWD), the government-estimated fuel economy is 26 mpg in the city, 31 mpg on the highway, and 28 mpg in combined driving.
Opting for all-wheel drive (AWD) drops each of those numbers by 1 mpg.
Every Equinox grade comes standard with FWD. You can add AWD to any trim for $1,600.
2022 Chevrolet Equinox LS (starting at $25,800)
With the L grade out of the picture, the price of entry into Equinox is up by $2,000. On the plus side, however, there is a lot more standard content.
Standard features include 17-inch aluminum wheels, auto on-off LED headlights, heated power outboard mirrors, cruise control, and keyless entry with push-button start.
The Infotainment 3 Plus system includes a 7-inch touchscreen, a 6-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, satellite-radio capability, two USB ports, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto.
OnStar and Wi-Fi hot spot capability are also included.
Chevy Safety Assist provides driver aids, including forward-collision warning with auto emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and high-beam assist.
There are loads of options and option packages. The Driver Confidence II Package ($395) adds rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, and rear-park assist.
The LS Convenience Package ($785) includes an 8-way power driver seat with lumbar settings, deep-tinted rear glass, and a 4.2-inch color gauge cluster.

2022 Chevrolet Equinox LS Includes:

The LT adds the LS Convenience Package, an overhead console, and LED daytime running lights (DRLs) to the LS standard fare.
Available option groups include the LT Driver Confidence & Convenience Package ($1,795) with the LS Confidence II Package features.
It includes remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a power liftgate.

2022 Chevrolet Equinox RS Includes:

2022 Chevrolet Equinox Premier (starting at $32,600)
With the Premier grade, all the RS blacked-out trim reverts to chrome.
To the RS standard content, Premier adds 18-inch aluminum wheels, a hands-free power liftgate, a 120-volt power outlet, an 8-inch touchscreen, additional USB ports, and an HD rearview camera.
Other features include a heated steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, perforated leather seating, and a safety alert vibrating driver’s seat.
Also included is the Driver Confidence III Package with adaptive cruise control, automatic parking assist, and a 360-degree surround-view monitor.
The optional Infotainment II Package ($1,125) adds navigation and the 7-speaker Bose audio system.
