A few enhancements highlight the return of the 2022 Lincoln Navigator.
When all you build are luxury SUVs, the alpha model had better live up to expectations. The Navigator does that and more.
Lincoln tweaked the exterior a bit with a freshened grille. Inside, a new 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen replaces last year’s 10-inch one. The infotainment interface is upgraded to Sync 4. Lincoln also tossed in a couple of new cabin design themes.
Even with all of that going on, there is even bigger news. Navigator is the first Lincoln model to offer the new semi-autonomous driver-assistance system ActiveGlide.
The new available rear entertainment system is called Lincoln Play. It features streaming through Fire TV, which plays on a 10-inch screen.
We like Navigator for its opulent cabin, the grocery list of standard features, its smooth V6 turbo, and the adult-friendly third-row seat.
Lincoln offers Navigator in standard and extended-length (L) body styles. Both are available across Navigator’s three-grade lineup: Navigator, Reserve, and Black Label.
You can add all-wheel drive (AWD) to the base Navigator for $3,000, no matter the body length. For whatever reason, adding AWD to the standard length Reserve is $2,700, but it’s $2,695 for the Reserve L.
Power & Fuel Economy
AWD is standard for the Black Label and Black Label L.
Navigator sources its thrust from a 450-horsepower 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. A piano-key 10-speed automatic transmission feeds the wheels. When properly equipped, Navigator can tow a maximum of 8,700 pounds.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the fuel economy for the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) Navigator is 17 miles per gallon in the city, 23 mpg on the highway, and 19 mpg in combined driving. The 4WD Navigator is rated at 16 mpg city/22 mpg highway/18 mpg combined.
