The biggest news for the returning 2022 Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo is, Porsche has added a new GTS Sport Turismo grade.
Porsche also included Android Auto in the infotainment mix and added an available smartphone-controlled self-parking system.
A fully electric vehicle (EV), the 4-passenger Taycan is the all-wheel-drive (AWD) wagon version of the Taycan sedan.
Any way you slice it, the Taycan Cross Turismo is one pricey hunk of electrified iron (or aluminum, if you just consider the exterior shell).
Pricing ranges from $93,700 to $187,600.
At a bit of a disadvantage in the range department, depending on the grade, this wagon is rated at a maximum range of 202 miles to 230 miles.
For example, these numbers are well below the Tesla SUVs in the 300 range.
But, hey, it’s a Porsche, right? That includes a performance legacy that we can’t deny.
We like Taycan Cross Turismo for its athletic performance, wagon body, standard AWD, and upscale interior.
Porsche offers Taycan Cross Turismo in five grades: 4, 4S, Turbo, Turbo S, and the new GTS Sport Turismo.
All five trim levels use the same dual-motor electric powertrain, but performance increases as you move up through the trims. Launch control is standard.
Unique to Taycan, the electric powertrain provides a 2-speed transmission on the rear axle.
Porsche provides three driving modes: Sport, Gravel, and Range. (The GTS Sport Turismo only offers Range mode.)
The government uses a special formula for calculating mileage estimates for electric power. It’s called miles per hour electric (MPGe). According to the EPA, the Taycan Cross Turismo can achieve up to 76 MPGe.
2022 Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo (starting at $93,700)
The 2022 Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo starts at $93,700.
Motivating the entry-level 4 trim level is the 469-horsepower version of the EV powertrain. Its estimated maximum range is 215 miles, and its mileage is 76 MPGe.
At 4.8 seconds, it posts the slowest 0-60 time among the Cross Turismo grades.
The Porsche warranty covers the EV battery for eight years or 100,000 miles.
Standard content includes 19-inch alloy wheels, an adaptive air suspension system, 6-piston front brake calipers, and a panoramic roof.
Also included are auto-dimming mirrors (rearview and outboard), heated outboard mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
Other features are LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, heated 8-way power-adjustable front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Wireless phone charging, four USB ports, leather-trimmed seats, and a digital 16.8-inch curved gauge and driver-information display are also standard.
Every Taycan Cross Turismo comes with keyless entry with push-button start.
The infotainment system has a 10.3-inch touchscreen, a 10-speaker audio system, navigation, Bluetooth, and voice recognition. Satellite-radio capability, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wired Android Auto are also standard.
The driver aids are forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and high-beam assist. Also included are front-rear park assist and blind-spot monitoring.
Porsche is well known for offering a grocery list of options and option packages. Just about anything you can think of that’s not standard can be optioned.
Adding the $1,350 destination fee to the 4 base price brings the total to $95,050. If you put no money down and financed for 60 months at 3% interest, it works out to $1,708 per month. See 2022 Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo models for sale
