2023 Chrysler 300: Choosing the Right Trim

There are no notable changes for the 2023 Chrysler 300, which may well be in its last year. There is no way to predict what its departure will mean for the Chrysler brand, which will be left with only the Pacifica minivan. In any event, it is one of the last full-size sedans standing, and its demise will be sad.

Despite its last redesign being in 2011, the 300 has aged well. This roomy 5-passenger sedan with its cavernous trunk is still a terrific highway tourer. Combine that with its available all-wheel drive (AWD) and legendary Hemi V8, and there is still some serious appeal. Even the exterior styling has held up well.

Chrysler separates the 300 into three grades: Touring, Touring L, and 300S.

The Touring and Touring L use the venerable 3.6-liter V6 to spin the rear wheels. The V6 delivers 292 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque in this application. No matter the engine, all 300 models use an 8-speed automatic transmission with a rotary shift knob to direct the engine torque where it needs to go. AWD is a $2,750 upgrade.

The standard V6 gets a re-tune in the 300S. Here, it generates 300 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque. But you may also opt for a 363-hp 5.7-liter Hemi V8, which adds $3,195 to the bottom line. With either engine, the 300S is rear-wheel drive (RWD) only.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the RWD Chrysler 300 V6 returns 19 mpg in the city, 30 mpg on the highway, and 23 mpg in combined driving. Opting for AWD lowers those numbers to 18 mpg city/27 mpg highway/21 mpg combined. Dropping the Hemi V8 into the 300S gets you 16 mpg city/25 mpg highway/19 mpg combined.

Here’s how the trim levels shake out.

2023 Chrysler 300 Touring (starting at $33,545)

The Chrysler 300 Touring is a value proposition that comes nicely equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, auto-on/off halogen headlights, and LED daytime running lights. Also included are full power accessories (windows, door locks, and outboard mirrors), heated outboard mirrors, and dual-zone automatic climate control. An auto-dimming rearview mirror, three 12-volt power ports, a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, and cloth seating are all standard.

To help you find the ideal driving position, Chrysler fits the 300 Touring with an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. There is also a comfortable 60/40-split-folding rear seat that can help expand the already voluminous trunk.

Overseeing the infotainment system is the Uconnect 4C interface with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, a 6-speaker audio system, and satellite radio capability. Chrysler also includes Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

The Touring doesn’t provide any standard advanced safety technologies beyond the government-mandated features like stability control, traction control, antilock brakes, and a rearview camera. However, you can add several safety technologies with the SafetyTec Plus Group ($2,995). It gains forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and high-beam assist. Also included are rain-sensing wipers, adaptive cruise control, outboard mirrors with integrated turn signals, and an auto-dimming driver’s outboard mirror.

The only other factory-installed option is the Sport Appearance Package ($1,500), highlighted by some black exterior accents and 20-inch black alloy wheels.

Adding the $1,595 destination fee to the Touring base price brings the total to $35,140. With no money down, financing for 60 months at 3% interest works out to about $631 per month. See 2023 Chrysler 300 Touring models for sale

2023 Chrysler 300 Touring includes:

Dual-zone automatic climate control – A set-and-forget system, it divides the vehicle into left and right zones, providing each with separate temperature settings. Once set, it automatically maintains the preset temperatures.

Auto-dimming rearview mirror – Using photosensors, it recognizes bright headlights closing from behind, automatically dimming their reflection.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay – These allow your smartphone to interface with your vehicle. Not only can you access the music on your phone, but you can also send messages, receive messages, and make calls through your vehicle’s media system.

2023 Chrysler 300 Touring L (starting at $36,745)

We think the Chrysler 300 Touring L is the best value among the 300 grades. It still allows AWD, includes a few standard safety technologies, and ups the comfort and convenience features.

Building on the Touring, the Touring L adds fog lights, an auto-dimming driver’s side outboard mirror, and outboard mirrors with integrated turn signals. Also standard are an 8-way power-adjustable passenger seat, heated front seats, and Nappa leather seating. Blind-spot monitoringrear cross-traffic alert, front-rear park assist, and 20-inch alloy wheels also are included.

The SafetyTec Plus Group is still available minus the auto-dimming driver’s side rearview mirror, which becomes standard in the Touring L. Chrysler adjusts the cost to $2,545.

You may also add the Popular Equipment Group ($3,495). It includes a 9-speaker Alpine 506-watt surround-sound audio system with a trunk-mounted subwoofer, navigation, and a panoramic sunroof.

The Comfort Group ($2,385) gains you a 6-speaker Alpine 276-watt audio system, adaptive bi-xenon headlights, a heated rear seat, and a heated steering wheel. Also included are a power rear-window sunshade, an anti-theft alarm, front leather seats with perforated inserts, and a power-adjustable steering wheel. Completing the package are memory settings for the driver’s seat, steering wheel, outboard mirrors, and radio, plus an outboard mirror that tips down when the car reverses.

Adding the destination fee to the Touring L base price totals $38,340. Financing for 60 months at 3% interest with no money down works out to a monthly payment of about $689. See 2023 Chrysler 300 Touring L models for sale

2023 Chrysler 300 Touring L includes:

Mirrors with integrated turn signals – These power outboard mirrors have turn-signal repeaters installed in their outer shell.

Nappa leather seating – This full-grain leather undergoes a unique tanning process rendering it softer and more pliable than other leather.

Safety technologies – These advanced driver-assistance/safety features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and front/rear park assist.

2023 Chrysler 300S (starting at $42,155)

With the 300S, you add power but lose the option of AWD. The listed price above is for the re-tuned V6. Swapping out the V6 for the Hemi V8 adds $3,195 to the bottom line. There is virtually no difference in features, no matter the engine.

To the 300 Touring L, the 300S adds all the content of the Comfort Group, a sport suspension, LED fog lights, and steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Upgraded sport seats covered in Nappa leather are standard as well.

The Touring L Comfort Group is still available with an adjusted price of $2,085. Chrysler also still offers the SafetyTecPlus Group for $1,945.

Adding the destination fee to the 300S base price equals $43,750. At 3% interest, financing for 60 months with no money down works out to approximately $786 monthly. See 2023 Chrysler 300S models for sale

2023 Chrysler 300S includes:

Available Hemi V8 – You can only get the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 in the 300S. Producing 363 hp, it delivers 394 lb-ft of torque.

Sport suspension – Where the other 300 grades get a comfortable touring suspension, Chrysler tunes the 300S suspension firmer for enhanced agility.

Paddle shifters – Mounted on the back of the steering wheel, these levers can upshift or downshift the automatic transmission when in manual mode.
