The 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L, an offshoot of the Grand Wagoneer that we detail elsewhere, is virtually an all-new model and engine. Riding on a 7-inch-longer wheelbase, it is 12 inches longer than the regular Grand Wagoneer. Consequently, second-row legroom is now 42.7 inches while third-row legroom is a generous 36.6 inches.
Stretching the length increases passenger space and gains 15 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the third-row seat. That added cargo space equates to nearly the total trunk volume of the Chrysler 300.
Total cargo room behind the Grand Wagoneer L’s third seat now totals 44.2 cubic feet. That’s more than enough space to hold 44 basketballs. With the second- and third-row seats folded, the cargo space expands to a substantial 130.9 cubic feet.
Jeep is also introducing a Wagoneer L version, which we detail separately.
Providing thrust for the 2023 Grand Wagoneer L is a new high-output Hurricane 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-6 engine. This engine, which makes 510 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque, sends power to all wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Grand Wagoneer L can tow up to 9,450 pounds when properly equipped.
According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Grand Wagoneer L is rated at 14 mpg in the city, 19 mpg on the highway, and 16 mpg in combined driving. Jeep requires the use of premium-grade fuel.
Off-Roading
Standard in the Grand Wagoneer L, the Quadra-Trac II 4-wheel-drive (4WD) system comes with a 2-speed transfer case with a 4LO setting for extreme off-roading. Unless shifted into 4LO, this 4WD system senses tire slip and automatically transfers up to 100% of engine torque to the wheels with the most grip.
Jeep offers Quadra-Drive II with an electronic rear limited-slip differential as an option. It also detects wheel slip and automatically transfers engine power to the wheels with grip.
No matter the trim, the Selec-Terrain system provides five driving modes: Auto, Sport, Rock, Snow, and Sand/Mud. Selec-Speed Control is a low-speed, off-road cruise control of sorts that uses hill-ascent and hill-descent control to allow the driver to concentrate on steering.
The standard Quadra-Lift air suspension system allows the driver to select from five height settings: Normal, Off-Road 1, Off-Road 2, Park, and Aero. Ground clearance for Normal is 8 inches, Off-Road 1 is 9 inches, and Off-Road 2 is 10 inches. Park mode lowers the Grand Wagoneer L ground clearance to 6.4 inches, while Aero Mode lowers it to 7.4 inches for reduced aerodynamic drag on the highway.
Jeep offers the Grand Wagoneer L in four trim levels Series I, Series II, Obsidian, and Series III. Jeep hasn’t priced the 2023 Grand Wagoneer L model yet. The prices below are our best estimates.
Here are how the Grand Wagoneer L trim levels shake out.
2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L Series I: $91,495
We won’t insult the Series I by calling it a base Grand Wagoneer L. But it is the introductory grade, even though it has a full array of convenience, technology, and safety features. You can get 7-passenger seating with the standard second-row captain’s chairs or 8-passenger seating with the Flexible Seating Group option.
Standard are 20-inch alloy wheels, proximity keyless entry with push-button start, and LED exterior lighting (auto-on/off headlights, taillights, daytime running lights, and fog lights). Also standard: grille shutters, high-beam assist, rain-sensing wipers, and a hands-free power rear liftgate.
In addition to a 12-inch color gauge cluster and a driver information display, the 2023 Grand Wagoneer L offers heated power-folding outboard mirrors with integrated turn signals, plus an auto-dimming mirror on the driver’s side. A heated leather-wrapped steering wheel is standard, as is heat for the first two rows of seats. All covered in Nappa leather, of course.
Adding to the driver’s comfort and ease of finding precisely the perfect driving position are a power-adjustable steering wheel, power-adjustable pedals, and 20-way power-adjustable front seats. The ventilated front seats also have a massage feature.
Other standard niceties are an auto-dimming rearview mirror, remote start, a 3-panel sunroof, a HomeLink transceiver, a 115-volt power outlet, and wireless phone charging. Even power-deployable running boards are standard.
The Uconnect 5 interface oversees the infotainment system with dual 12-inch/10.1-inch touchscreens, navigation, a 19-speaker McIntosh audio system, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi hot spot capability. Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, satellite radio capability, two 12-volt power ports, and multiple USB ports are included, along with Amazon Alexa to answer your voiced requests.
Working to help keep everyone safe is a complete bundle of safety and driver-aid technologies. For example, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control with full stop-and-go are standard. Also included are blind-spot monitoring, front-rear park assist, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, and a surround-view camera. Lane-keeping assist and a head-up display are standard, as well.
The optional Convenience Group III provides several safety technologies, among other things. For instance, Jeep includes driver-awareness alert, junction left-turn assist, night vision with pedestrian and animal detection, and traffic-sign recognition. Another technology in this package is Active Driving Assist, a semi-autonomous driver-assistance technology that can steer, accelerate, and brake the vehicle under certain conditions. Also, this package gives you adjustable roof rail crossbars and a rear-facing interior camera.
Other options include a rear-seat entertainment package and the Flexible Seating Group that raises the max capacity of the Grand Wagoneer L to eight.
Adding the $2,000 destination fee, the Series I costs $93,495. With no money down, financing for 60 months at 3% interest works out to about $1,680 per month. See 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L Series I models for sale near you
2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L Series I includes:
Quadra-Lift – This height-adjustable air suspension adjusts to any five settings that offer ground clearance ranging from 6.4 to 10 inches.
Driver settings – A bundle of features allows the driver to achieve total comfort while locating the best driving position. They include power-adjustable pedals, a heated power-adjustable steering wheel, and 20-way power-adjustable front seats that offer massage, heat, and ventilation.
Rain-sensing wipers – When the system senses moisture on the windshield, it automatically engages the wipers. The wiper speed adjusts according to the volume of the rain.
2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L Series II: $98,080
Increasing the Series I comfort, convenience, and driver assistance, the Series II begins with the driver-awareness alert, adding passenger-seat memory and a digital rearview camera mirror. Other gains are a suede headliner, traffic-sign recognition, 22-inch alloy wheels, and upgraded Palermo leather seating.
The Series II offers the same options as the Series I. However, the Convenience II package comes minus the driver awareness alert and traffic-sign recognition because they are already standard on the Series II.
Adding the $2,000 destination fee, the Series II base price equals $100,080. Financing for 60 months with 3% interest and no money down works out to a monthly payment of roughly $1,798. See 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L Series II models for sale near you
2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L Series II includes:
Traffic-sign recognition – A front-pointing camera captures images of traffic-warning and information signs along the road. When it recognizes a critical sign, such as Stop, Yield, Speed Limit, and so forth, it flashes the information on one of the vehicle’s displays.
Digital rearview camera mirror – A rear-pointed camera supplies a crystal clear image of what you’d typically see in a rearview mirror. It presents a full display of what is behind the Grand Wagoneer L, even if tall rear passengers block the back window.
Palermo leather – Ultra-soft and patterned-stitched, this leather covers the seats and other interior surfaces.
2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L Obsidian ($103,585)
Best we can tell, this is an appearance upgrade to the Series II. It includes blacked-out interior and exterior accents and a few added features. For example, a 23-speaker McIntosh audio system, a front console cooler, a front-passenger interactive display, and ventilated rear seats.
2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L Obsidian includes:
Dark accents – These appear on the wheel inserts, interior trim, deep-tinted glass, and other places.
Front-passenger display – A third display screen is 10.3 inches and gives the passenger access to information such as navigation and entertainment.
Ventilated rear seats – These allow rear-seat passengers the luxury of cool air blown through their seatbacks.
2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L Series III ($110,995)
The top dog among the 2023 Grand Wagoneer L grades, the Series III builds on the Series II. You gain all the remaining features in the Convenience III group, plus all the non-appearance added elements of the Obsidian grade.
Also added to the Series Grand Wagoneer are an advanced security system and natural wood interior accents.
Jeep doesn’t offer any factory-installed options for the Series III.
Adding the destination fee and financing that amount for 60 months with 3% interest and no money down works out to a monthly payment of approximately $2,030 per month. See 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L Series III models for sale near you
2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L Series III includes:
Night vision – This camera provides a deeper view of the roadway using thermographic technology. Its infrared sensors also pick up the heat signatures of pedestrians and animals on or near the road.
Active Driving Assist – A semi-autonomous driver-assistance system, it can accelerate, brake, and steer the Grand Wagoneer L in certain conditions.
Junction left-turn assist – An advanced modification of the forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking, this system warns of oncoming traffic when you’re making a left turn. It can then brake the vehicle if the driver doesn’t react.
