The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is a high-end luxury car with exciting performance, especially in the upper trims. It competes with luxury super sedans like the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe (also a 4-door), Porsche Panamera, and perhaps the Audi RS 7.
Now that the V8-powered GT 63 and GT 63 S models have returned for 2023 after a yearlong hiatus, there’s a little more variety in this luxury car’s model range. Let’s take a closer look at the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe family and find the right model for you.
2023 Mercedes-AMG GT 43: $95,900
The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is the kind of car where getting the base trim isn’t much of a compromise. Even in its most affordable variant, this is a well-appointed luxury car with engaging performance and modern technology.
The GT 43 version is powered by a turbocharged 6-cylinder engine with the EQ Boost mild-hybrid system mated to an AMG Speedshift 9-speed automatic transmission. The 362 horsepower generated is sent to all four wheels via the AMG Performance 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system (AWD) with variable torque distribution.
Standard features include 19-inch AMG wheels, AMG Ride Control sport suspension, AMG Dynamic Select drive modes, a mechanical limited-slip differential, LED headlights and taillights, a rear spoiler, a power liftgate, a power sunroof, MB-Tex faux leather upholstery, heated front seats, a memory driver’s seat, and an AMG steering wheel with paddle shifters. The standard infotainment system features a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, navigation, SiriusXM, and “Hey Mercedes” voice control. Also standard is a Burmester surround-sound premium audio system.
This is a customizable luxury car with tons of options for paint colors, wheel options, and interiors. Interior trim options include black piano lacquer, anthracite open-pore wood, and carbon fiber.
We wouldn’t buy one without the Driver Assistance Package. It adds a long list of safety tech features like traffic sign assist, Distronic adaptive cruise control, active steering assist, active lane-change assist, active emergency stop assist, active speed limit assist, evasive steering assist, and much more.
An AMG Night Package adds stylish black exterior trim, and an Extended Night Package adds a black grille and emblems. The Executive Rear Seat Package makes the back seats more luxurious with 3-zone climate control, two USB ports, a center console with a touchscreen, heated and cooled cupholders, and a wireless charging pad.
The Warmth and Comfort Package is suitable for drivers in cold climates adding a heated steering wheel, heated front door panels and armrests, and rapid heating front seats.
Highlights from the long list of individual options include rear sunshades, ventilated front seats, a fixed panoramic glass roof, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, AMG performance seats, heated rear seats, red or yellow seatbelts, an AMG performance exhaust system, and a Burmester 3D audio system.
