2024 Buick Enclave: Choosing the Right Trim

The 2024 Buick Enclave appeals to buyers looking for luxury trappings without an exorbitant price tag. It straddles a line between luxury SUVs like the Lincoln Aviator and more mainstream makes such as the Chevrolet Traverse and Honda Pilot.

The Enclave’s strong points are numerous and include a roomy interior with a usable third-row seat, ample cargo space, and commendable performance in government crash testing.

That stated, the Enclave’s aging platform and somewhat stoic styling may fall flat with younger buyers, especially when compared to more modern and less expensive vehicles such as the Mazda CX-90 or Hyundai Palisade.

Buick offers the Enclave in three trims: Essence, Premium, and Avenir. All offer varying levels of luxury and technology and come equipped with a 310-horsepower V6 engine. Buick doesn’t offer a hybrid powertrain option. However, you can get one in the Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid and Ford Explorer Hybrid.

What’s New:

The 2024 Buick Enclave carries over with no significant changes. An all-new model is on deck to debut for 2025.

Our Recommendation:

We think the Buick Enclave Premium hits the sweet spot. Its standard equipment roster is overflowing with luxury upgrades, yet it only costs about $4,000 more than a well-optioned Essence trim. Opt for the adaptive cruise control option.

2024 Buick Enclave Essence: $43,900 (FWD), $45,900 (AWD)

Coming in at just under $44,000, the Essence trim is priced higher than many competitors’ entry-level models but comes with a long list of standard features.

One of those is the Enhanced Buick Driver Confidence package.

This safety suite contains several advanced driver-assist systems, including forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist with lane departure warning, a blind-spot monitor with a lane-changing alert, and rear cross-traffic detection.

Additional equipment includes front and rear parking sensors, automatic high-beam headlights, and a following distance system that warns if you’re following too close to the vehicle ahead.

An HD rear vision camera shows a clear view behind the vehicle, while the Safety Alert Seat vibrates to warn of potential hazards near the vehicle. There’s even a system to remind you to check the rear seat before exiting and locking the car.

The Essence trim is the most conservatively styled, yet its exterior has lavish features. Standard fare includes 18-inch alloy wheels, auto on/off LED headlights, heated side mirrors with driver’s side auto-dimming feature, and a hands-free power liftgate complete with a projected LED Buick logo so you’ll know exactly where to kick your foot.

The Essence has a keyless entry system that permits access to the vehicle so long as the key fob is nearby. Once inside, pressing a button starts the engine. The fob also provides extended-range remote-start capability.

Unlike many newer SUVs, the Enclave still comes with a compact spare tire and tool kit, an old-fashioned notion we prefer over inflator kits or run-flat tires.

The Enclave interior is designed with convenience in mind, touting 7-passenger seating comprised of an 8-way power driver’s seat and a 6-way power passenger seat, both equipped with 2-way power lumbar support. Captain’s chair second-row seating makes accessing the 60/40-split folding third-row seat easy.

Perforated leather upholstery covers the first two rows, while the third row employs easy-to-clean vinyl.

Additional interior amenities include a heated tilt/telescoping steering wheel, tri-zone automatic climate control with rear seat climate controls, a wireless charging pad, cruise control, Active Noise Cancellation, and a 4.2-inch color driver information screen.

The Essence’s 8-inch infotainment touchscreen is on the smaller side compared to screens found in newer competitors, but it’s still functional and responds quickly to inputs. The system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth streaming, voice command, a 3-month trial subscription to SiriusXM 360L, and an AM/FM stereo with six speakers.

You’ll also get a Wi-Fi hot spot, access to Buick connected services, and OnStar. There are two USB charge-and-data ports up front and two charge-only ports in the second and third rows.

Opt for the Technology Package, and you’ll get adaptive cruise control, a rear camera mirror, a 360-degree HD Surround Vision monitor, enhanced automatic emergency braking, and rear pedestrian detection.

The Sound and Sites Package adds navigation, a 10-speaker Bose audio system, and a 120-volt outlet.

Additional options include a power moonroof with a fixed rear glass panel, 20-inch wheels, a trailering package, and the Sport Touring Edition with gloss-black wheels and a unique Sport Touring grille.

With the $1,395 destination charge, the 2024 Buick Enclave Essence costs $45,295. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $855. See 2024 Buick Enclave Essence models for sale near you
