2024 Chevrolet Colorado: Choosing the Right Trim

After last year’s major makeover, the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado returns with a few minor tweaks to its standard and optional equipment list and one major upgrade to its off-road aspirations.

Although the Colorado competes head-on with the Toyota Tacoma and Nissan Frontier, its single Crew Cab/Short Box (5-foot bed) configuration, like that of the Ford Ranger, puts it at a disadvantage regarding versatility.

Power for the base WT and LT comes from a turbocharged 2.7-liter 4-cylinder good for 237 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Optional on the WT and LT and standard on all other trims is the TurboMax, which displaces the same 2.7 liters but pumps out an impressive 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. Four-wheel drive (4WD) is available on all grades and comes standard on Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2.

The 5-trim lineup carries over for 2024, but the top-line ZR2 gets a new Bison Package designed for serious off-road expeditions.

What’s New:

A new ZR2 Bison Edition Package adds more off-road capability to an already capable platform. All trims now feature a standard 11-inch digital instrument cluster.

A more powerful 2.7-liter TurboMax engine is available on the WT and LT and comes standard on the Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2.

Some optional packages see some revisions. Most notable is a floor console added to the WT Convenience Package and Blind-Zone Steering Assist with Trailering to the Advanced Trailering Package.

Our Recommendation:

The Chevrolet Colorado LT makes a fine choice if you’re looking for a reliable truck to get you and your stuff to and fro. Numerous option packages allow further customization, along with available upgrades to the engine and drivetrain.

Serious off-road fans should go with the ZR2. If you’re a bit less serious about your off-roading, the Trail Boss is still plenty capable while being easier on your wallet.

2024 Chevrolet Colorado WT: RWD, $30,000 (estimated); 4WD, $33,000 (estimated)

The WT (Work Truck) is ideal for those who use their Colorado for work and not play. It’s not a stripped-down model, but you won’t find many luxuries here. If you require a bit more comfort and pampering, the LT is a better choice.

Max trailering for the Colorado WT is rated at 3,500 pounds with the standard engine and 7,700 with the TurboMax.

Opting for 4WD brings a single-speed electronic Autotrac push-button transfer case and front recovery hooks.

While minimal in features, the WT doesn’t skimp in driver safety. It has forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, following distance indicator, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights.

Additional safety systems include a rear seat reminder and Teen Driver, which allows parents to set limits on certain features and keep a report card on their teen’s driving habits.

A walk around the exterior reveals sturdy 17-inch steel wheels, a rear bumper with a corner step, rear privacy glass, remote keyless entry, power mirrors, and a cargo bed light.

Along with the HD rear vision camera, the WT includes Hitch View with Hitch Guidance. This excellent technology offers a close-up view of the vehicle’s trailer hitch and a single line to aid in aligning the ball and hitch.

Moving to the WT cabin, we find a surprisingly well-appointed interior. Beyond the 11-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, you get single-zone manual air conditioning, power door locks, a push-button starter, and a tilt steering wheel.

Cloth upholstery is both durable and comfortable regardless of the outside temperature. The WT has manually adjustable front seats, a 60/40-split folding rear seat, a 12-volt outlet, and express-down power windows.

The standard infotainment system features a 6-speaker AM/FM radio, SiriusXM satellite radio, Google built-in, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity, natural voice recognition, and access to OnStar and GM connected services.

Optional equipment for the WT is quite extensive and mostly bundled into packages.

The WT Convenience Package adds a manual sliding rear window, a floor console, a remote locking tailgate, a rear window defroster, and cruise control. The WT Convenience Package II adds an 8-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support and the multifunction StowFlex/EZ-Lift and Lower tailgate with a keyed cylinder lock.

The Advanced Trailering Package adds Blind-Zone Steering Assist with Trailering, an automatic locking rear differential, integrated trailer brake control, an in-vehicle trailering app, and a 2-inch receiver hitch with 4- and 7-pin connectors.

A Dark Essentials Package adds black exhaust tips, badging, and Chevrolet bowtie emblems.

Additional optional equipment includes Evotex synthetic leather upholstery, heated outside mirrors, rear parking sensors with rear cross-traffic braking, a blind-spot monitor, and HD Surround Vision cameras.

Also available are rear air vents, rubberized vinyl flooring, adaptive cruise control, a center floor console, and a choice between a spray-in bedliner or a molded bedliner with cargo storage and lighting.

With the $1,495 delivery fee, the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado WT has an estimated cost of $31,495. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment works out to about $594. See 2024 Chevrolet Colorado WT models for sale near you

2024 Chevrolet Colorado WT includes:

  • 11.3-inch touchscreen – This massive touchscreen makes it easy to view and operate various features, such as music apps or maps, when using the wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
  • Driver assists – The WT includes several high-tech assists designed to help the driver avoid collisions and not make unsafe lane changes.
  • Available StowFlex tailgate – This 2-piece tailgate features a front panel that opens to reveal a watertight compartment perfect for storing items too wet or dirty for the cab but too valuable to be left in the open bed.

2024 Chevrolet Colorado LT: RWD, $33,000 (estimated); 4WD, $36,000 (estimated)

The 2024 Chevy Colorado LT offers more comfort and convenience features over the WT, plus a more stylish exterior.

Building off the WT, the LT adds 17-inch alloy wheels, proximity keyless entry with push-button start, rear air vents and USB port, a remote locking tailgate, express up/down driver’s window, a wrapped steering wheel, and a front center console.

Buyers may upgrade with the LT Convenience Package. It includes a manual sliding rear window, tailgate cylinder lock, a rear defroster, the StowFlex/EZ-Lift tailgate, LED fog lamps, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel. You also get cruise control and lighted driver and passenger visor vanity mirrors.

The LT Convenience Package II adds a tow/haul mode, an 8-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support, heated side mirrors, remote start, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated front seats, a wireless charging pad, and, most significantly, the 310-hp TurboMax engine.

The LT Convenience Package III includes Evotex upholstery, a rear center armrest, a 120-volt box-mounted outlet, a 120-volt interior outlet, a heated steering wheel, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, additional rear USB ports, a blind-spot monitor, rear parking sensors, and rear cross-traffic braking.

In addition to the packages mentioned for the WT, the LT also offers a skid plate protection package, a 7-speaker Bose audio system, and a Bluetooth-compatible Kicker tailgate audio system.

When equipped with 4WD, the Colorado LT offers the option of a power sunroof.

With the $1,495 delivery fee, the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado LT has an estimated cost of $34,495. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment works out to about $651. See 2024 Chevrolet Colorado LT models for sale near you

2024 Chevrolet Colorado LT includes:

  • Keyless entry – With the proximity key fob in your purse or pocket, you need only touch the Colorado’s door handle to unlock the vehicle.
  • Available dual-zone climate control – Allows the driver and front passenger to regulate the air vent temperature, effectively creating two climate zones in one space.
  • Available 120-volt box outlet – The optional 120-volt box outlet features a 3-prong plug ideal for powering tools or recreational equipment.

2024 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss: $37,500 (estimated)

The 2024 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss comes standard with 4WD, the 310-hp TurboMax engine, 18-inch gloss-black wheels, all-terrain tires, and an off-road suspension with a 2-inch lift.

While the Trail Boss loses some LT standard equipment, such as the proximity fob keyless entry and wrapped steering wheel, it gains hill descent control, an automatic locking rear differential, and black recovery hooks.

Building off the WT model, the Trail Boss adds Evotex seats, active noise cancellation, rear seat air vents, and an express up/down driver’s window.

Also unique to the Trail Boss are brighter paint options, 20- and 22-inch wheel upgrades, and Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires (requires 18-inch wheels).

The Dark Essentials Package adds black nameplates, a black bowtie grill emblem, Colorado sill plates, 20-inch black alloy wheels, and a black exhaust tip.

The Trail Boss Convenience Packages contain the same equipment as the WT and LT packages, as do the Safety, Technology, and Advanced Trailering packages.

The Off-Road Lighting Package brings auxiliary off-road lights, a power distribution box, and an accessory switch kit. The Sports Bar Package adds a 40-inch off-road roof lightbar and bed-mounted sport bar.

Unfortunately, the Bose and Kicker audio systems are not on the Trail Boss options list.

With the $1,495 delivery fee, the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss costs around $38,995. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment works out to about $736. See 2024 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss models for sale near you

2024 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss includes:

  • Off-road suspension – With a 2-inch lift, the Trail Boss off-road suspension helps it negotiate boulder-strewn trails. You also get a 3-inch-wider track and improved approach and departure angles.
  • TurboMax – With 310 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque, this upgraded 2.7-liter engine delivers V8-like power with V6-like fuel economy.
  • Available adaptive cruise control – The perfect co-pilot when not tackling off-road trails. Adaptive cruise control maintains a safe distance from the traffic ahead, negating the need for constant braking.

2024 Chevrolet Colorado Z71: $40,000 (estimated)

Like the Trail Boss, the Z71 comes standard with the more powerful TurboMax engine, 4WD, and a get-it-done attitude.

The Z71 omits the off-road suspension and upgrades, making it more of a highway cruiser that has some off-road abilities when needed.

The Z71 adds a 120-volt power outlet in its bed, heated side mirrors, cruise control, LED headlights, and red recovery hooks to the Trail Boss standard features.

Optional features above those offered on the Trail Boss and LT include red and black Evotex upholstery, perforated leather upholstery, driver’s seat memory, a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, a power sunroof, and the Bose and Kicker audio systems.

With the $1,495 delivery fee, the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 costs an estimated $41,495. With a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment works out to about $783. See 2024 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 models for sale near you

2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2: $47,000 (estimated)

The ZR2 wraps all that’s good about the Z71 and Trail Boss into a single truck, then adds even more power and amenities.

The ZR2 Off-Road Package comes standard, adding Multimatic suspension dampers, a 3-inch lift, off-road front fascia and fender flares. There’s also a Baja drive mode that optimizes power and traction when traveling over sand.

The 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 includes 17-inch Graphite and Oxide Gold wheels wearing 33-inch mud-terrain tires, driver-selectable fully locking front and rear differentials, an 800-amp heavy-duty battery, an in-vehicle trailer app, an integrated brake controller, and off-road rocker protectors.

A spray-on bedliner comes standard, along with LED headlights, heated side mirrors, the StowFlex/EZ-Lift tailgate, and the 120-volt bed-mounted outlet.

Interior upgrades include red and black cloth/Evotex upholstery, an 8-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support, heated front seats, a manual tilt/telescoping steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a manual sliding rear window.

Unique to the ZR2 is the available Bison Edition Package created in conjunction with off-road specialist American Expedition Vehicles (AEV).

The extensive package adds heavy-duty stamped steel bumpers (winch-capable in front), 17-inch beadlock-capable alloy wheels, 35-inch mud-terrain tires, Multimatic Jounce Control Dampers, and power-locking front and rear differentials. You also get a bed-mounted vertical spare tire, an AEV rear bumper and fender flares, plus boron-steel skid plates covering the fuel tank, transfer case, rear differential, radiator, and steering gear. The ZR2 arrives with a wider chassis and a 4.5-inch factory lift to accommodate the Bison equipment.

With the $1,495 delivery fee, the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 costs of around $48,495. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment works out to about $915. See 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 models for sale near you
