The Ford Bronco rolls into 2024 with only modest changes. The lineup features one less trim, dropping the total number to nine. But don’t fear; the best trims, including the off-road champ Raptor, remain. There are also several terrain-specific trims, like the Everglades with its snorkel and winch and the Wildtrak designed to move quickly over desert landscapes.
Bronco buyers still have a choice between 2- or 4-door models, both with removable doors and several hardtop or soft-top options. The 2-door Bronco comes standard with a hardtop, while the 4-door comes standard with a cloth soft-top.
Due to popular demand, ongoing chip availability, and possible labor issues, choosing the right Bronco trim might be easier than actually finding one on dealer lots. If you can’t wait, the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator are suitable alternatives, but they too may be in short supply. The Toyota 4Runner is also an option, although it offers no removable top or doors.
Prices are current at the time of publishing.
What’s New:
The base Ford Bronco has been dropped from the lineup, leaving the Big Bend as the entry-level model. All Bronco trims now feature a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen, while the contents from the optional High and Lux packages are combined into a single High/Lux grouping.
Other changes of note include the removal of the 10-speed automatic from the Badlands with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost, the removal of the 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine from the Big Bend’s optional equipment list, and the deletion of the 2-door Outer Banks trim. Dropped from the available features list are the keyless entry keypad and standard built-in navigation, which is now optional with a year’s subscription.
Last: A Ford Performance heavy-duty modular front bumper has been added to the Badlands and Wildtrak trims, while the Raptor gains an available Code Orange Appearance Package.
Our Recommendation:
If your time in the 2024 Ford Bronco is split equally on-road and off, the Bronco Big Bend is all you need. It makes for a comfortable daily driver, if a bit noisy, yet can carry you far off the beaten path. The same goes for the Black Diamond and Heritage Edition models, which have a few more features and a more playful attitude.
For those seeking a rugged off-roader, the Outer Banks or Badlands are both affordable choices. But the Bronco Raptor (the Braptor) is the champion here if you can swing the nearly $90,000 price tag.

The Big Bend comes standard with a part-time 4-wheel-drive (4WD) system featuring a shift-on-the-fly 2-speed transfer case and three drive modes. A full-time 4WD system is optional. The Bronco’s Terrain Management System features the following G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain) modes: Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery, Mud/Ruts, and Sand.
The 2-door Bronco features a molded hardtop with removable front panels and a rear wiper/washer, while the 4-door gets a soft-top with plastic windows all around. A hardtop is optional, as are several variations, including a hardtop with a retractable soft twill front section.
The Big Bend features LED headlights and fog lights, remote keyless entry, heated side mirrors with integrated spotter mirror, Bronco grille script, 17-inch tires with 32-inch all-terrain (A/T) tires, rear privacy glass, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift knob.
Amenities are basic but not sparse. They include power windows, single-zone manual air conditioning, a manual tilt/telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, and one-touch up/down power front windows.
Also standard is a locking center console, full carpeting, manually operated cloth bucket seats, and a 60/40-split folding and reclining rear seat (4-door) or 50/50-split folding rear seat (2-door).
The Bronco’s high-tech features include an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, push-button start, and the Sync 4 infotainment system featuring a 12-inch color touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM with 360L, and an AM/FM radio with seven speakers including a subwoofer.
Ford’s Bronco Trail app (formerly called FordPass Connect) comes standard, offering things like a Wi-Fi hot spot, remote start, vehicle locator, service interval reminders, and more. Connected Navigation is now optional.
Ford Co-Pilot360 technologies include forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and high-beam assist. Also onboard are hill start assist, hill descent control, and a rearview monitor.
Additional safety features include traction control, trailer sway control, plus front and side-curtain airbags.
The Sasquatch Package adds 17-inch black wheels with beadlock capability (securely locks the tire bead to the wheel), 35-inch mud-terrain (M/T) tires, and electronic locking front and rear axles with a 4.7:1 final drive ratio. Also included is a high-clearance suspension with position-sensitive Bilstein shocks and high-clearance fenders. This package requires the 10-speed automatic and On-Demand 4WD.
Other notable options include the hardtop roof, auxiliary switches with prewiring, a slide-out tailgate, numerous cargo storage options, and several retractable soft-top pieces that replace the hardtop’s removable front panels.
Heavy-duty off-roaders can add protective options such as steel bash plates, protective body armor, roof rails, a brush guard, a heavy-duty modular front bumper, and tubular frame doors.
The Mid Package adds features like Intelligent Access keyless entry, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, and rear parking sensors.
