The 2024 Ford F-150 seeks to maintain a tight grip on its best-selling vehicle status, adding new features to make work and play a little easier.
The F-150 has eight trims encompassing three bed lengths, three cab sizes, and six engine choices. That’s far more than the Toyota Tundra, Ram 1500, and Nissan Titan, but in line with the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra.
For 2024, Ford will make its hybrid engine option available on more trims, hoping buyers will find it an acceptable bridge between the F-150’s internal combustion engines (ICE) and its electric-only Lightning (reviewed separately).
Prices are current at the time of publishing.
What’s New:
For 2024, Ford gives each trim a unique grille. There’s a new STX trim, but the Limited is no more.
The base 3.3-liter V6 gets dropped, leaving the 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 as the new standard engine. The PowerBoost hybrid engine option expands to more models, as does the in-bed Pro Power Onboard system.
One of the most significant changes exists in the F-150’s bed, where a new optional Pro-Access tailgate features a swing-out midsection door granting easy access to the bed when towing a trailer. This option is available on the Lariat and higher trims when ordering the Bed Utility Package.
Other new features include a 12-inch digital display, a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen, and more standard driver safety systems.
Our Recommendation:
The XLT or Lariat offers the average pickup buyer excellent versatility, features, and value. Luxury buyers will be happy with the King Ranch or the Platinum, which checks all boxes and leaves little to be desired. Those planning off-road trips who can’t afford a Raptor should upgrade to the FX4 package or get a Tremor.

2024 Ford F-150 XL: $36,570
The XL is the most affordable 2024 Ford F-150, sought after by those who use their trucks for jobs that may incur many scrapes and dents.
Depending on the size of the cab, XL buyers can choose between Regular, Super Cab, or SuperCrew, with a 5.5-, 6.5-, or 8-foot bed.
On 141- and 145-inch wheelbase trucks, a twin-turbocharged 325-hp 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 comes standard, while 122- and 157-inch wheelbase trucks get the 400-hp 5.0-liter V8. Both engines feature auto stop/start technology.
A 10-speed automatic transmission is standard, with 4-wheel drive (4WD) optional.
Ford’s Selectable Drive Modes include Normal, Eco, Sport, Tow/Haul, Slippery, and Trail. Models with 4-wheel drive (4WD) gain additional modes for Deep Snow/Sand and Mud/Rut.
The Regular Cab with the 6.5-foot bed has a 23-gallon fuel tank; all others feature a 36-gallon tank.
Being an entry-level pickup no longer means just getting by with the bare minimum. We couldn’t help but notice standard features and appointments matching those of more expensive trims dating back just a few years.
The XL roster kicks off with Ford’s Co-Pilot 360, which includes forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors with rear automatic braking.
Lane-keeping assist and lane-departure warning help keep the F-150 centered between lane markers. A driver alert system warns you when you’re drowsy or inattentive.
Wiper-activated auto on/off headlights, automatic high beams, and a rear backup camera finish the group.
Additional safety systems include full airbag coverage, a tire-pressure monitor, one-year stolen vehicle services (an app on your phone alerts when someone is trying to move or break into your truck), and curve control, which cuts power and applies the brakes when sensing the F-150 entering a curve too quickly for road conditions.
A walk around the XL exterior reveals 17-inch steel wheels, black bumpers and grille, a removable and locking tailgate with lift assist, heated power side mirrors, bed storage boxes (not available with 8-foot bed), keyless entry remote flip-key fob, and wiper-activated LED headlights.
A Class IV trailer hitch includes a Smart Trailer Tow connector, a 7-/4-pin connector, and a Class IV trailer hitch receiver.
The XL Cab brings power one-touch up/down power windows, a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, single-zone manual air conditioning, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, black vinyl floor covering, and a 40/20/40 cloth front seat.
The Super Cab and SuperCrew feature a 60/40 flip-up rear seat and two USB charge ports.
A 12-inch color touchscreen anchors the infotainment system, which includes 4- or 6-speaker audio, depending on cab size.
Ford’s Sync 4 brings Bluetooth wireless phone connectivity, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice command, cloud-connected navigation (1-year trial subscription), and SiriusXM satellite radio.
FordPass Connect brings 5G service for Ford connected apps, including vehicle locater, remote start, and a Wi-Fi hot spot for up to 10 phones.
The High Package adds 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome bumpers, rear privacy glass, a rear window defroster, and LED fog lamps.
The rest of the options are seemingly endless and include features like heavy-duty trailer packages, side steps, a spray-in bedliner, and so forth.
You can add options to the XL or move the XLT trim, which includes more equipment for not all that much additional money.
With the $1,995 destination fee, the 2024 Ford F-150 XL Regular Cab 4×2 costs $38,565. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $728. See 2024 Ford F-150 XL models for sale near you

2024 Ford F-150 STX: $45,895
The STX trim brings a sporty look to the F-150. It comes only as a Super Cab with a 6.5-foot bed or a SuperCrew with a 5.5-foot bed.

Other upgrades include Ford’s BlueCruise semi-autonomous self-driving system, side mirror spotlights, Intelligent Access keyless entry with push-button start, an onboard 400-watt 110-volt power outlet, a power sliding rear window, power-adjustable pedals, and a twin-panel moonroof (SuperCrew only).
Remote start and a tailgate release are also standard.
Music lovers will want to upgrade to the 8-speaker Bang & Olufsen B&O sound system, while off-roaders should opt for the FX4 package that adds an electronic locking rear axle, an off-road suspension, skid plates, and rock crawl mode.
When you opt for adaptive cruise control with stop/go, you’ll also get road sign recognition, lane centering, intersection assist, and evasive steering.
Hybrid versions of the F-150 XLT come standard with a 2.4-kilowatt Pro Power Onboard system that can supply power for about 85 hours on a tank of gas (it has the 23-gallon fuel tank).
Order the optional Pro Power Onboard system with a 7.2-kilowatt generator for serious power needs. The system uses the battery pack for power. When the battery depletes, the gas engine continues supplying power to the system. The system can run at max output for about 32 hours.

2024 Ford F-150 Lariat: $64,995
The Lariat begins the F-150’s foray into the upscale pickup world, but it’s still far from the top-line King Ranch or Platinum. It comes only in a SuperCrew cab with a 5.5- or 6.5-foot bed.

2024 Ford F-150 King Ranch: $73,425
The King Ranch is a luxury truck for those who work in the rough and tumble world. It can pull, haul, and tow with the best F-150, but its rustic luxury interior fits perfectly with those working the open lands in places like Montana, Texas, or Wyoming.

Offered only with the SuperCrew cab and standard 4WD, the 2024 Ford F-150 Tremor is powered by the standard 5.0-liter V8 or a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6.
The Tremor’s mechanical credentials include a 3.73:1 electronic locking rear axle, a 9.75 gearset, plus selectable drive modes with Deep Snow/Sand, Mud/Rut, and Rock Crawl. The Tremor includes additional skid plate protection and improved approach, breakover, and departure angles.
The Tremor’s suspension was designed to take a beating, with improved front knuckles and control arms, off-road shocks, and 2-stage variable-rate leaf springs. Trail Control acts like cruise control for off-roading, maintaining a slow speed while traversing technical terrain.
The Tremor gets a more rugged look with a unique hood, 18-inch dark gray wheels, running boards, and Tremor graphics.
Interior upgrades include unique black cloth seats with orange stitching, bucket-style heated front seats, and a flow-through center console with a collapsible shift lever.
