2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC: Choosing the Right Trim

Fresh from a complete redesign last year, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV arrives with only minor changes. The GLC is a favorite among luxury buyers, giving them all the opulence and technology expected of a Mercedes-Benz sedan but in a compact, easily maneuverable SUV.

GLC 300 buyers can choose from three well-equipped trims: Premium, Exclusive, and Pinnacle. Regardless of trim, the GLC 300 has a 255-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged engine aided by a 48-volt mild-hybrid starter/generator. The hybrid system provides short bursts of additional power when needed but no electric-only ability, such as what you get with a plug-in hybrid like the Lexus RX PHEV.

Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard; 4Matic all-wheel drive (AWD) is optional.

After a short hiatus, the performance-oriented Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 returns this year with a more powerful engine and a new look.

There’s also a sleek GLC Coupe that also includes a powerful AMG model, reviewed separately.

Primary rivals for the new GLC include the BMW X3, Acura RDX, and Audi Q5.

Prices are current at the time of publishing.

What’s New:

The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 returns to the lineup with a 416-hp turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and all the performance expected from a vehicle wearing AMG badges.

SiriusXM satellite radio is now part of the GLC’s standard equipment list.

Our Recommendation:

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Premium is well-equipped enough to satisfy the average owner. But the Exclusive trim, with its Surround-View monitor, navigation, and 15-speaker Burmester 3D surround-sound system, is tempting, especially for only $2,250 more.

2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Premium: $47,450, 4Matic AWD: $49,450

The GLC Premium is a well-equipped Mercedes-Benz SUV with a sub-$50,000 price tag.

The Premium’s feature set begins with standard driver assists, including forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor, automatic high-beam headlights, and Parktronic front and rear parking sensors.

Active Parking Assist can aid in parallel or perpendicular parking, while a rearview camera, a driver drowsiness monitor, and a system that alerts exiting passengers to vehicles or bikes approaching from behind bring added peace of mind.

Exterior features for the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Premium include 18-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing front wipers, a power rear liftgate with auto-on in-reverse wiper, plus heated and power-folding side mirrors. Keyless-Start allows proximity entry, unlocking the doors when sensing the fob nearby. The fob can also remotely open and close the windows.

Speaking of the cabin, the Premium’s interior looks more like something you’d find in a top-of-the-line model. It has an advanced 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster accompanied by an 11.9-inch tablet-style infotainment touchscreen. The infotainment system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, HD Radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and an audio system with an under-dash front bass woofer and four midrange speakers.

The infotainment interface is the newest Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) version with voice control. This artificial intelligence (AI) system provides the “Hey Mercedes” assistant. You can activate your MBUX profile with the fingerprint sensor or by voice command.

Additional interior amenities include 16-way power front seats with memory, lumbar, and thigh extensions. There’s also dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, cruise control, a wireless charging pad, a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, and 64-color ambient interior lighting.

MB-Tex upholstery looks and feels like leather but is synthetic vinyl. However, genuine leather covers the steering wheel.

Among the optional safety technologies is the Driver Assistance Package (requires optional navigation), which includes adaptive cruise control with a full-stop-and-restart function. Traffic sign recognition with speed-limit assist and rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking are also onboard, along with Active Lane-Change Assist, Active Blind-Spot Assist, Active Brake Assist with turning and cross-traffic function, and Active Emergency Stop Assist. Other options, stand-alone or bundled into packages, include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, AMG styling packages, heated washer fluid, rear side-impact airbags, and trailer hitch.

Adding the $1,150 destination fee to the GLC 300 Premium base price brings the total to $48,600. Financing for 60 months with 5% interest with $0 down works out to $917 per month. See 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Premium models for sale near you

2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Premium includes:

MHEV powertrain – Consisting of a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a 48-volt electric assist, the mild-hybrid powertrain of the GLC 300 generates 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.

Proximity keyless entry – The doors automatically unlock when approaching the GLC 300 if the key fob is on your person. Push-button start pairs with proximity keyless entry.

MBUX – This is an AI-capable infotainment interface. Its highlight: the spoken “Hey Mercedes” vehicle interface, which is not unlike having Amazon Alexa in your vehicle. You can change the climate control settings, adjust the stereo’s volume, or input a destination for the navigation system with spoken commands.

2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Exclusive: $49,700, 4Matic AWD: $51,700

To the Premium content, the Exclusive grade adds a Surround View monitor, a “Transparent Hood” camera angle feature, enhanced cabin ambient lighting, and a 15-speaker Burmester 3D surround-sound audio system. Other upgrades include navigation and illuminated doorsills.

Also included is Guard 360, a security camera system that can monitor events outside the car and send smartphone notifications when someone has bumped into or is breaking into the vehicle.

Adding the $1,150 destination fee to the GLC 300 Exclusive brings the total price to $50,850. Financing for 60 months at 5% interest with $0 down works out to $960 per month. See 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Exclusive models for sale near you

2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Exclusive includes:

Surround View monitor – The GLC’s bird’s-eye view monitor displays a 360-degree image around the vehicle, which is particularly valuable when parking. For GLC 300 4Matic models, this includes the Transparent Hood feature, providing a view under the vehicle to help the driver see the terrain and direction of the front wheels. This view kicks in at low speeds when setting the drive mode to “off-road.”

Burmester 3D audio – This 15-speaker audio system fills the cabin with crisp, concert-quality sound.

MB navigation – This system provides turn-by-turn directions, as well as customizable maps, to ease the task of locating destinations.

2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Pinnacle: $51,900, 4Matic AWD: $53,900

Building on the GLC 300 Exclusive’s standard features, the 2024 Mercedes GLC 300 Pinnacle includes augmented video for navigation, a head-up display, and Digital Light with projections. Also standard: glass that insulates for both noise and heat.

Adding the destination fee to the GLC 300 Pinnacle base price totals $53,050. Financing for 60 months at 5% interest with $0 down works out to $1,001. See 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Pinnacle models for sale near you

2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Pinnacle includes:

Head-up display – A projector on the dashboard at the base of the windshield displays critical driver information on the windshield just below the driver’s line of sight.

Digital Light with projections – This is an advanced LED headlight system that provides dramatically better illumination while also being capable of projecting warnings onto the road surface several feet in front of the vehicle. If, for example, the GLC 300 Pinnacle is in danger of leaving its lane and entering oncoming traffic, a lane-keeping symbol will be projected onto the road.

Insulating glass – This glass minimizes heat transmitted by the sun. It also helps keep the 5-seat cabin quiet.

2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Premium: $60,000 (estimate)

The AMG GLC 43 is all-new this year, bringing a level of performance on par with BMW’s M, Lexus F Sport, and Audi’s RS SUVs.

Under the hood, the GLC 43 gains a handcrafted 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder good for 416 hp, plus another 13 horsepower when the hybrid electric motor kicks in.

As with all Mercedes-AMG models, the GLC 43 sees most of its suspension, exhaust, brakes, and transmission given AMG-style upgrades. Standard AWD is biased toward the rear wheels, as it should be in any worthwhile performance car.

AMG Ride Control helps the suspension become more reactive with adaptive dampers that adjust in milliseconds. Rear axle steering quickens turning at slow speeds and aids stability on the highway, while AMG Dynamic Select varies transmission shift points and throttle control based on Comfort, Sport, or Sport+ modes.

Standard features for the Premium trim include MB-Tex upholstery with microfiber inserts covering sport front seats. The seats have heat, power lumbar, and memory settings. There’s also an AMG steering wheel wrapped in Nappa leather and a Nappa-look dash cover.

Optional equipment includes the AMG Performance Studio Package, AMG Night Package, AMG Performance Seat Package, and AMG Dynamic Plus Package, which includes dynamic engine mounts and red brake calipers.

With the $1,150 delivery charge, the 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Premium is estimated to cost $61,150. On a 60-month loan with 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment works out to $1,154. See 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Premium models for sale near you

2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Premium includes:

AMG performance parts – The GLC 43 comes packed with AMG design upgrades to enhance performance at every level.

Available AMG Track Pace – Intended for use on closed circuits, this smartphone app connects to the car’s Wi-Fi to keep track of the car’s telemetry data. It also has over 60 stored racetracks, so you can learn every turn before hitting the asphalt.

Available performance seats – These optional seats provide great lateral support, aided by power-adjustable bolsters and single-piece headrests.

2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Pinnacle: $65,000 (estimate)

The GLC 43  Pinnacle includes all the Premium features plus navigation with augmented video, the 15-speaker Burmester audio system, a head-up display, a Surround View monitor, navigation, Digital Light with projection, the Transparent Hood display, and enhanced ambient lighting.

With the $1,150 delivery charge, the 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Pinnacle has an estimated price of around $66,150. On a 60-month loan with 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment works out to about $1,248. See 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Pinnacle models for sale near you
