One step down from the mighty Range Rover is the slightly less awesome 2024 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. Though somewhat smaller than the Range Rover and capable of carrying only five passengers, the luxury and off-road capability levels remain the same, with the performance edge going to the Sport.
Sleek new styling from the previous year carries over with little change, although the trim line and powerplants undergo significant changes. For 2024, there are only four choices: SE, Dynamic SE, Autobiography, and SV. All come standard with all-wheel drive (AWD) and an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The SE derives power from a turbocharged 3.0-liter engine good for 355 horsepower, while the Dynamic SE uses a high-output version of the same engine, delivering 395 hp. The Autobiography gets a new plug-in hybrid engine (designated P550e in Land Rover-speak), good for 543 hp. In contrast, the all-new SV motivates from a twin-turbocharged V8, producing a jaw-dropping 626 hp.
We appreciate the Range Rover Sport’s subtle lavishness, potent powertrains, profound off-road ability, and the envious Land Rover legacy. However, it’s not the only game in town, facing off against rivals like the Porsche Cayenne, Lamborghini Urus, and the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53.

All 2024 Land Rover Range Rover Sport models receive updated Pivi Pro software, while SE and Dynamic SE get more standard equipment. The Autobiography gets a new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) engine, and a new SV trim debuts with a 626 horsepower twin-turbocharged V8.
Our Recommendation:
Unless you are PHEV curious and willing to pony up the extra dough for the Autobiography and its fuel economy, the smart pick is the Dynamic SE. It costs under $100,000, even if you add a couple of the option packs. And it delivers more horsepower than the SE.

2024 Land Rover Range Rover SE: $85,075
We can hardly refer to the Range Rover SE as entry-level, but it is the most affordable trim in Range Rover Sport terms.
The SE comes standard with 21-inch alloy wheels, self-leveling LED headlights with power washers, heated power-folding outboard mirrors with memory and driver’s side auto-dimming mirror, and rain-sensing wipers with heated pads when in the parked position.
You’ll also find flush deployable door handles, a power tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, and front and rear fog lights. An adaptive air suspension supports the Range Rover Sport SE.
Moving to the SE’s interior reveals dual-zone automatic climate control, 20-way memory power-adjustable front seats, and heated, power-recline second-row seats. Other features include perforated Windsor Leather seating, heated and ventilated front seats, and a 13.7-inch driver display. Proximity keyless entry with push-button start, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a power-adjustable heated steering wheel, and high-beam assist are also standard.
The SE’s infotainment system complements its 13.1-inch touchscreen with a 15-speaker Meridian audio system and Bluetooth to keep everyone entertained and connected. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as well. An updated Pivi Pro interface includes new slide controls for the volume and climate controls but retains the haptic response, so drivers don’t need to take their eyes off the road to know touchscreen input is achieved.
The bundle of safety and driver-aid technologies is extensive. It includes a forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a 360-degree surround-view camera, a front-rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver-alert warning.
Adaptive cruise control with steering assist, lane-keeping assist, and traffic sign recognition are also included. New Country Road Assist works with navigation and adaptive cruise control, anticipating upcoming curves and adjusting the vehicle speed to the appropriate number.
Land Rover offers several option packs. For example, the $450 Cold Climate Pack gains you a heated windshield and washer jets. The Convenience Pack ($595) adds a gesture-activated power tailgate, rear-side window sunshades, and a cargo space partition.
Other options of note include pixel LED headlights, deployable side steps, soft-close doors, and an upgraded Meridian sound system with 19 speakers and an 800-watt amp.

The Autobiography is the PHEV model in the Range Rover Sport lineup. It uses Land Rover’s 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine mated with an electric motor and 38.2-kilowatt-hour battery to produce a combined 543 hp. A twin-speed high/low-range transfer case replaces the SE’s high-range-only unit.
Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control regulates speed when crawling or descending steep hills. The air suspension gets upgraded with Dynamic Response Pro, which creates a more responsive suspension when cornering at high speeds. All-wheel-steering quickens turn-in response and lessens the turning diameter.
As for features, the Autobiography 22-inch alloy wheels, 22-way massaging front seats, semi-aniline leather upholstery, heated and ventilated power reclining rear seats, a suede-cloth headliner, and quad-zone automatic climate control.
Illuminated seat-belt buckles, a head-up display, configurable cabin lighting, and the ClearSight digital rearview camera mirror are also standard. A 19-speaker Meridian 3D Surround Sound audio system is included, as well.
Land Rover offers the Cold Climate Pack and the Convenience Pack with a hands-free power rear liftgate as options.

2024 Land Rover Range Rover SV: $140,000 (estimate)
The SV is a new high-performance trim. For now, we only have info on the limited Edition One, which is an invitation-only affair. When the SV trim goes on sale to the general public, it will no doubt be significantly less expensive; we’re guessing it will be around $140,000.
Under the SV’s hood resides a 626-hp twin-turbocharged V8. Land Rover claims it will launch this behemoth to 60 mph in a scant 3.6 seconds. The SV gets a revised adaptive air suspension, brakes, steering, exhaust, and new 16-way heated and cooled performance sport seats with “vibro-acoustics” that uses Subpac technology built into the front seats, allowing the occupant to feel the music.
Most of the SV’s content mirrors that of the Autobiography. Some observable differences include the SV’s sport seats covered in Ultrafabric, 2-zone instead of 4-zone climate control, the standard 15-speaker Meridian sound system in place of the Autobiography’s 19-speaker system, and an adaptive air suspension minus the Dynamic Response Pro. The SV also uses a high-range-only transfer case.
Performance options include Brembo ceramic composite brakes, carbon-fiber wheels, and numerous performance-enhancing upgrades.
