2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid: Choosing the Right Trim

Finding a bad word to say about the 2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid is next to impossible. That’s because the Camry Hybrid shares most of the same body, features, resale, and reliability ratings as its gasoline-only counterpart.

In the Camry Hybrid, you’ll find a spacious sedan with attractive styling, a host of standard safety and driver assists, and a varied trim lineup that includes the LE, SE, XLE, and XSE.

The options of all-wheel drive (AWD) and a V6 engine are missing from the Camry Hybrid, although the hybrid powertrain may surprise with its overall performance.

Regarding fuel economy, there’s even less to fault. The 2.5-liter 4-cylinder and electric hybrid motor achieve a combined 52 mpg for the LE and 46 mpg for the remaining models.

Due to the placement of the hybrid battery pack, the Camry Hybrid has a smaller gas tank than its non-hybrid counterpart, at 13.2 gallons versus 15.8.

As good as it is, the Camry Hybrid has some competitors worth considering. They include the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, Honda Accord Hybrid, and though slightly smaller, the Toyota Corolla Hybrid.

What’s New:

The 2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid carries over with only one minor change: Amazon Alexa capability has been removed.

Our Recommendation:

Given the Camry Hybrid’s standard and available feature set, most people will be fine with the least expensive LE trim. The LE also achieves the best fuel economy. Those seeking a more luxurious ride should opt for the XLE with all the optional equipment.

2024 Toyota Camry LE Hybrid: $28,855

The entry-level Camry Hybrid is the LE. With its 16-inch plastic wheel covers and somewhat muted exterior styling, the LE isn’t the choice for those who like to make an entrance, but on all other counts, it’s a nicely equipped car.

There’s an abundance of safety tech, including a rearview camera, a tire-pressure monitor, and 10 airbags, including front knee and rear-seat side impact airbags.

The Camry LE Hybrid comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ (TSS 2.5+), which includes full-speed-range adaptive cruise control. This system activates at speeds over 30 mph but remains engaged at speeds down to 0 mph. The system can even stop the vehicle and resume travel once traffic begins to move.

Forward collision warning with pedestrian detection is standard, as is automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, and Road Sign Assist, which alerts the driver to important road sign information, such as the posted speed limit.

Lane-tracing assist works when using the adaptive cruise control, centering the vehicle between lane markers to avoid drift. When not using cruise control, lane-departure warning includes a steering assist feature that helps nudge the Camry back into its lane when detecting drift.

The LE also includes a rear seat reminder system that alerts the driver to check the back seat before exiting the vehicle.

The Camry LE Hybrid has auto on/off low-beam LED headlights, power mirrors, variable intermittent wipers, and the Smart Key keyless entry system. With the Smart Key fob in your purse or pocket, you need only touch a button on the door handle to unlock the car and push a button on the dash to start it.

Moving to the LE’s cabin, we find dual-zone automatic climate control with a humidity sensor, an electronic parking brake with a hold feature, one-touch up/down power windows, and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel with controls for the audio, cruise, and Bluetooth phone connectivity.

A 4.2-inch driver information display shows information for speed, fuel economy, adaptive cruise control range settings, and hybrid readouts.

The Camry Hybrid’s drive mode system includes an EV mode allowing low-speed operation solely on electric power for short distances.

An 8-way power driver’s seat comes standard. It includes power lumbar support, while the rear seat folds in a 60/40 split. The LE’s cabin includes sliding sun visor extensions, lighted visor mirrors, an overhead console with sunglass storage, and a rear window defroster.

A modest 7-inch color touchscreen covers infotainment duty. In addition to the 6-speaker AM/FM radio, the system includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the ability to support several connected Toyota service apps, and a Wi-Fi hot spot.

The LE’s Audio Upgrade Package with Options adds a wireless charging pad, a power sunroof, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, and the HomeLink universal remote.

The Cold Weather Package adds heated side mirrors, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.

You can also opt for the blind-spot monitor without the Audio Upgrade Package.

With the $1,095 destination charge (in most states), the estimated price for the 2024 Toyota Camry LE Hybrid is around $29,950. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $565. See 2024 Toyota Camry LE Hybrid models for sale near you

2024 Toyota Camry LE Hybrid includes:

  • Dual-zone climate control – The LE’s dual-zone climate control allows the driver and passenger to create their climate zones and includes a humidity sensor to help keep the cabin comfortable and the windows fog-free.
  • TSS 2.5+ – Toyota’s impressive suite of driver assists helps alert the driver to potentially hazardous situations and can even act to stop the vehicle before an accident can occur.
  • 8-way power driver’s seat – With its wide range of motion, drivers of all sizes can find the perfect position. Includes power lumbar for better lower back support.

2024 Toyota Camry SE Hybrid: $30,390

The SE trim takes all that’s good with the Camry LE Hybrid and adds a sportier look and a firmer sport suspension. The price premium, an extra few thousand dollars, is justified.

The changes start outside the car, where the SE trim gains a black mesh lower grille insert, color-keyed rocker panels, black headlight bezels, color-keyed heated side mirrors, and 18-inch black alloy wheels. Also included are a color-keyed rear spoiler and a single exhaust with dual chrome tips.

Inside the cabin, the SE gains SofTex upholstered seats with cloth inserts, while genuine leather covers the steering wheel and gains paddle shifters. The SE also gets a tire pressure monitor with readouts for each tire.

For those seeking an even more distinct ride, the SE Nightshade Special Edition package ($1,000) brings unique 19-inch matte-bronze alloy wheels, the black mesh grille from the Camry TRD, black mirror caps, a black rear spoiler, plus black surrounds for the headlights and taillights.

The Nightshade color palette comprises Midnight Black Metallic, Ice Cap (white), and Reservoir Blue.

As for options, the SE’s options and packages are the same as with the LE.

With the $1,095 destination charge, the estimated price for the 2024 Toyota Camry SE Hybrid is around $31,485. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $594. See 2024 Toyota Camry SE Hybrid models for sale near you

2024 Toyota Camry SE Hybrid includes:

  • Sport suspension – With stiffer shocks and springs, the SE’s sport suspension delivers better cornering and handling without impacting ride comfort.
  • 18-inch alloy wheels – These alloy wheels look much better than the LE’s small 16-inch steel wheels with plastic covers.
  • Heated side mirrors – These help keep frost and snow from building up on the side mirrors and are activated when switching on the rear defroster.

2024 Toyota Camry XLE Hybrid: $33,745

Expanding on the LE’s standard equipment, the Camry XLE Hybrid brings more luxury and more optional upgrade packages.

The XLE’s standard equipment roster includes full LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, and a single exhaust with a chrome tip.

Additional driver assists include a blind-spot monitor and rear-cross traffic alert.

Inside the cabin, the XLE’s infotainment system gets a larger 9-inch touchscreen with additional connected services such as Remote Connect that allows, amongst other things, remote start, remote lock/unlock, and parking location.

The XLE gains a larger 7-inch driver information display, a wireless charging pad, rear-seat air vents, leather upholstery, and heated front seats. Additional upgrades include an 8-way power passenger seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, and wood interior accents.

XLE customers can add a 9-speaker JBL audio system, a power sunroof, GPS navigation, auto-leveling adaptive headlights, and a heated steering wheel.

The Driver Assist Package adds a bird’s-eye-view Camera, heated and ventilated front seats, Intelligent Clearance sonar with rear automatic emergency braking, and a 10-inch color head-up display.

With the $1,095 destination charge, the 2024 Toyota Camry XLE Hybrid costs $34,840. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $657. See 2024 Toyota Camry XLE Hybrid models for sale near you

2024 Toyota Camry XLE Hybrid includes:

  • Blind-spot monitor – Detects vehicles driving next to the Camry and alerts the driver with audible and visual warnings, helping minimize unsafe lane changes.
  • Available JBL audio – Backed by an 800-watt amplifier, the XLE’s upgraded JBL audio system touts nine speakers, including a powered subwoofer.
  • Available auto-leveling adaptive headlights – Automatically level for the best light distribution and swivel in the direction of the front wheels, helping illuminate dark corners before entering.

2024 Toyota Camry XSE Hybrid: $34,295

The XSE is the most distinctive of the hybrid trims, building off the SE trim like the XLE does with the LE.

Above the SE’s standard fare, the XSE adds full LED headlights, a gloss-black grille with mesh insert, 19-inch gloss black wheels, and color-keyed heated outside mirrors. The XSE includes, as standard, a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert.

Interior upgrades include a wireless charging pad, rear-seat air vents, a 7-inch driver information display, unique patterned metal interior trim, an 8-way power passenger seat, steering-wheel paddle shifters, heated front seats, and leather upholstery with an XSE exclusive red leather option.

The XSE gets the same infotainment upgrade as the XLE: a 9-inch color touchscreen with additional connected services.

As for options, the XSE and XLE offer the same packages and stand-alone equipment, except for a 2-tone paint option featuring a black-painted roof.

With the $1,095 destination charge, the 2024 Toyota Camry XSE Hybrid costs $35,390. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to $668. See 2024 Toyota Camry XSE Hybrid models for sale near you

2024 Toyota Camry XSE Hybrid includes:

  • Wireless charging pad – Allows wireless charging of compatible smart phones.
  • Available power sunroof – An excellent way to add more light and fresh air into the roomy Camry cabin without lowering the windows.
  • Available 2-tone paint – Adds another level of distinction to the Camry XSE Hybrid.
