• Starting price of $28,825
  • New standard equipment, including Bluetooth
  • Top-trim model with built-in vacuum cleaner

With a starting price of $28,825 (not including an $830 destination charge), the updated 2014 Honda Odyssey is priced $150 higher than the outgoing 2013 model. The latest Odyssey has freshly updated styling and includes new standard features such as Bluetooth. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard across the lineup, which includes five trim levels: base Odyssey LX, EX, EX-L, Touring and top-trim Odyssey Touring Elite.

Honda revised the styling of its popular minivan with a more sculpted hood and a tidier look for the grille and headlights. Details in black give the front of the Odyssey a sportier appearance. In back, LED taillights with clear lenses and light pipes bring the minivan up to date, and body-colored side mirrors and new chrome trim polish its exterior appearance.

Keyless entry with push-button start is now standard on Odyssey EX models and above. The family-friendly feature allows the driver to unlock and open any of the doors without reaching for a key fob.

Inside, the 2014 Odyssey has chrome-trimmed instruments and door handles, white lighting for the gauges and controls for better visibility and new materials for the seats and interior trim. A 7-inch touchscreen is available, as is a DVD rear entertainment system for EX-L models and above.

All Odyssey models now include the 6-speed automatic transmission, which was previously only for the Touring and Touring Elite. It improves both city and highway fuel economy for the Odyssey LX, EX and EX-L. The Environmental Protection Agency rates fuel economy at 19 miles per gallon city/28 mpg hwy across the Odyssey lineup.

Honda introduced a few new features for the 2014 Odyssey, including LaneWatch, a system that displays an image of the passenger-side blind spot to make lane changes easier. Honda also offers HondaVac for the first time on the 2014 Odyssey. The built-in vacuum cleaner, standard on the Odyssey Touring Elite, fits neatly in the minivan's cargo area. It's more powerful than typical rechargeable units and includes a hose that will reach all corners of the minivan. The 2014 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite is priced at $44,450.

The Odyssey remains a top choice for minivan shoppers, thanks to its competitive feature set and strong reputation. Plus, unique, family-friendly features such as Honda's available built-in vacuum cleaner simply cannot be found in other models. The latest Odyssey arrives at Honda dealers nationwide on July 2.

What it means to you: If you're shopping minivans, the 2014 Honda Odyssey should be on your short list. Family-friendly features, good fuel economy and Honda's strong reputation for quality make it one of the best vehicles in the minivan segment.
