Paris Hilton and cars rarely appear in tabloids for good reasons (DUI violations, empty gas tank, arrested for cocaine possession...), but this week they did. TMZ reported that the heiress’s boyfriend, Cy Waits, bought her a Lexus LFA for her 30th birthday (February 17), which she can park alongside her Cadillac Escalade Hybrid, Rolls Royce Ghost and pink Bentley Continental.
The LFA, which has a starting price of $375,000, went into production last December, and will only be available in limited numbers. Lexus will produce 20 LFAs for 25 consecutive months for a total number of 500.
And don’t think you can find a used one if you weren’t one of the lucky people to sign up for the coupe. The 150 LFAs available in the North America market will initially sell through a two-year lease program so owners can’t turn around a resell the hard-to-get vehicle. But what makes this such an in-demand, high-priced vehicle (that will inevitably gain even more attention with Paris Hilton behind the wheel)? It has to do with a 4.8-liter, V10 engine, 6-speed transmission with paddle shifters, the extremely light material (it has a carbon fiber reinforced plastic cabin) and all of the customizable options.
There are reportedly more than 30 billion configurations (which makes the 87 million Google results for “Paris Hilton” seem almost inconsequential). With 30 exterior colors, three wheel finishes, six brake caliper colors and 19 interior color options, even the biggest diva will find a pleasing combination. Let’s just hope Paris behaves herself in the two-seater that peaks at 202 mph and goes from 0 to 60 in 3.6 seconds.
