2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross: Geneva Auto Show - Video

If you're hearing about the new 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross for the first time, you might be wondering why they chose to resurrect the name Eclipse. Our guess is that it's the only name in Mitsubishi history that has any kind of equity -- well, except for the EVO.

Even though Eclipse Cross does sound a little like a Christian rock band, the name does kind of tell you all you need to know: The sportiness of an Eclipse with the utility of a small crossover. Think of this Mitsubishi as a FIAT 500X or Honda HR-V competitor.

The front end has a lot of chrome and has a few styling cues from a previous Mitsibishi concept. This look will probably be shared with many future Mitsubishi SUVs.

The Eclipse Cross is powered by a 1.5-liter direct injection, turbocharged gasoline engine, hooked up to a CVT, the only transmission choice. We expect horsepower to be in the 175 range.

The interior is attractive with an 8-in screen, although there's not a lot of color. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are available as well as a head-up display and touch pad for controlling certain features

Look for the 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross to be available by early next year.
