  • Acura unveils its ILX concept at this year's Detroit Auto Show
  • ILX stands as a precursor to the all-new Acura compact sport sedan due to launch in Spring 2012
  • ILX will include three drivetrain options: two four-cylinder engines and a gas/electric hybrid

With the ILX, Acura introduces the world to its forthcoming all-new compact sports sedan slated for launch in the spring of 2012. The ILX is positioned as the gateway to the Acura brand. Aimed at young, professional, first-time luxury buyers, the ILX combines a low and wide sporting stance with eco-minded performance and design.

The ILX has been designed for three drivetrain options: an entry-level 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder, a higher performance 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder, and a 1.5-liter gasoline-electric hybrid. Acura boasts the 1.5-liter hybrid is its best ever offering of its kind. Buyers will also be able to choose between a manual and automatic transmission.

Alongside its highly stylized and aerodynamic body, the ILX aims to please buyers with its spacious, well-appointed, and tech-savvy interior as well. The ILX will offer a number of new, high-value features, including a smart entry keyless access system and pushbutton start, along with Pandora Internet radio interface and SMS text message function.

The ILX will be built exclusively in the United States in the Greensburg, Indiana plant.

What it means to you: even sporty, luxury buyers can have a hybrid sedan.
