FIAT Invites Facebook Fans to Design its SEMA Show Cars

Carmakers go to shows like Las Vegas' SEMA convention to show off how creative and wild they can be if they let their designers go wild. The show has debuted some of the wildest concepts and modifications the auto world has ever seen, and now FIAT says it's your turn.

FIAT is running a contest through its Facebook page where fans can submit a design for three of its SEMA show cars.

Contestants can go to the FIAT USA Facebook page and click on the Design Challenge link on the left side of the page. There, the artistically inclined can download a blank template of the 500 subcompact car.

Contestants can print out the images, color and scan them back into the computer, or use programs like Photoshop to explore their creative side. The final designs can be uploaded back to the same Facebook page when done.

All submissions must be turned in by Oct. 5. The company will pick its favorite 10 designs and FIAT's Facebook fans will vote on their favorites. The three most popular designs will be turned into a vinyl wrap and put on display at SEMA, the country's biggest aftermarket car show, from Nov. 1-3.

Beyond having their creation on display for the whole world to see, contestants can win all kinds of neat prizes, like a new iPad or a t-shirt with your design on it.

The SEMA show has been around since 1966 and is the premier event for showcasing the latest products in the aftermarket car parts world.
