Although Hyundai already revealed it's bringing a heavily-modified version of the small Veloster hatchback to this year's SEMA show in Las Vegas, the automaker also recently announced plans to debut a second aftermarket model with even more high-performance upgrades at the tuner trade show. Based on Hyundai's sporty Genesis coupe, the new model features modifications to the interior and exterior along with some major improvements under the hood.

Officially dubbed the Genesis Hurricane SC, the modified Genesis coupe represents a two-year development effort by the Hyundai American Technical Center to showcase the aftermarket potential of Hyundai's most popular sporty car. According to Hyundai, its technical center worked with aftermarket suppliers like Magnuson Products and Rhys Millen Racing to create the unique coupe, which was revealed only in computer renderings so far.

But while it may have taken two years to perfect, the final product was certainly worth the effort. Under the Hurricane SC's hood is a supercharged version of the Genesis's 3.8-liter V6 that's been tuned for an impressive 450 horsepower - almost 150 more than the base model.

The sporty coupe also includes six-piston Brembo brakes with cross-drilled rotors for improved stopping power, a lightweight flywheel for increased acceleration and a stronger clutch designed to handle the coupe's increased power. That means improved performance, which may one day make it to the automaker's more traditional models.

"One of the many exciting aspects of this project is that the Genesis Hurricane SC is not just another pretty face for the show circuit, but rather it is a hard working lab-rat that will push the bounds of this car and the whole vehicle segment," said Terry Peddicord, director of sales for Magnuson Products, makers of the Genesis Hurricane SC's supercharger.

Of course, upgrades to the Genesis Hurricane SC didn't stop with its performance tuning. Other modifications include exterior enhancements like a new front bumper, grille, hood and side skirts, and interior upgrades ranging from a Harman International Lexicon sound system to suede seats accented with blue inserts.

If you're interested to hear more about the Genesis Hurricane SC, stay tuned. We'll be headed to the SEMA show early next month to learn more details and get photos of the high-performance Hyundai and many other models as they're unveiled for the first time.
