Kia PacWest Adventure Sorento: SEMA Show

author photo by Doug DeMuro November 2015

What Is It?

The Kia PacWest Adventure Sorento is an unusual concept vehicle that sees the relatively mild midsize Sorento crossover turn into a wild off-roader SUV -- complete with a roof rack and an off-road paint scheme.

How exactly do you turn the Kia Sorento into an off-roader? The SUV incorporates a lot of fabricated parts created by a long line of companies that are dedicated to suspension tuning, wheels, tires and off-roading accessories. One builder, LGE-CTS Motorsports, fabricated an entirely new front subframe for the SUV.

Of course, the PacWest Adventure Sorento blends right in at SEMA, which is full of unusual custom cars, crazy paint schemes and strange modifications, but on the road, it would certainly cause a stir with its winch, LED light bars, off-road wheels and 6-inch lift for improved ground clearance.

Will They Ever Sell It?

Never! Think of the SEMA Show as a chance for automakers to let loose and have fun, and you'll start to understand the PacWest Adventure Sorento. While some of the odd concept cars here are previews of potential upcoming models, this one will remain a one-off concept.

Why It's Important

Although the Kia PacWest Adventure Sorento will never find its way into showrooms, we're happy to see Kia make the vehicle, engage with its customers, and create something memorable and unusual for SEMA Show attendees in the process. That isn't always easy to do when you're busy making and selling tens of thousands of cars, but the PacWest Adventure Sorento proves that Kia "gets" the SEMA Show.
