Visitors to this year’s Monterey Car Week (Aug. 15-19) will be rewarded with a first look at the redesigned 2018 Acura RLX. Acura will feature the updated midsize RLX sedan at multiple events throughout the annual affair on the Monterey peninsula.
According to Jon Ikeda, Acura vice president and general manager: “This redesign of the 2018 Acura RLX is transformational, creating road presence and styling that better reflect underlying performance capabilities of the vehicle.”
Adopting the new Acura styling direction, the updated RLX features the brand’s signature diamond pentagon grille, a more sculpted hood, new LED taillights and several other fresh exterior design cues. From the NSX supercar, the uplevel RLX Sport Hybrid grade borrows its Sport Hybrid Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive system for impressive performance and fuel economy. Three electric motors team up with a V6 to deliver a total of 377 horsepower.
A 310-hp RLX anchors the two-trim lineup. It comes with Precision All-Wheel Steer and a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Offered on both Acura RLX grades is the full suite of AcuraWatch safety/driver-assist technologies, including traffic jam assist, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, a collision-mitigation braking system, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist and forward-collision warning.
The 2018 Acura RLX will arrive in showrooms in November.
