Ford Announces Free Lifetime Brake Pad Replacement Guarantee

  • Ford announces lifetime free brake pad replacement guarantee
  • Free brake pad replacement available at Ford dealers, Quick Lane Tire & Auto Centers
  • Customers who take advantage of guarantee will still pay labor costs

Ford has officially announced a new service that’s likely to catch the eye of bargain-hunting car shoppers: a free lifetime brake pad replacement guarantee. The automaker officially announced the guarantee earlier this month, promising to offer no-cost brake pads at Ford and Lincoln dealerships or Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center locations across the country.

According to Ford, shoppers who purchase Motorcraft brake pads for their Ford, Lincoln or Mercury product any time after July 1, 2014, are eligible for the program. After the initial purchase, drivers can then get no-cost brake pad replacement the next time their pads wear down to less than three millimeters, provided that they return to a Ford and Lincoln dealership or a Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center for the replacement.

Unfortunately, Ford’s lifetime brake pad replacement guarantee does have one slight catch: labor costs. While the pads are indeed available free of charge, drivers will still have to pay labor costs to have the brake pads installed in their vehicle. Still, the offer means that drivers will save money compared to buying a set of brake pads and paying for installation costs.

“This program reflects our commitment to providing customers with an excellent ownership experience regardless of the age of their vehicle,” said Frederiek Toney, president of Ford Global Customer Service Division. “Plus, when you purchase Motorcraft parts at a Ford or Lincoln dealer, or a Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center, you know you’re getting the right parts installed by the right people.”

Presumably, Ford also hopes the program will benefit its dealers and Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center locations by bringing in more customers for service. Today, many customers bring their vehicles to independent repair shops once the factory warranty runs out, but with the brake pad replacement guarantee, Ford undoubtedly hopes to help change that trend.

What it means to you: Ford’s brake pad replacement guarantee will save drivers money when the time comes to replace their vehicle’s brake pads.
