Here Are 5 Good Van Life Vans for Sale on Autotrader

Most of us would be lying if we said we’ve never fantasized about dropping everything, buying a van and setting off in it to see the world. In the event that we’ve caught you in a moment where you’re particularly fed up with it all, here are five vans listed on Autotrader that would be great for living the van life.

2014 RAM ProMaster

2014 RAM ProMaster – $26,500

Unlike its competitors from Ford and Mercedes-Benz, the Ram ProMaster uses front-wheel drive (FWD), meaning that it’s slightly more maneuverable and slightly less truck-like than either of those rivals. Additionally, the ProMaster generally costs a few thousand dollars less than the Transit and Sprinter. All around, it’s slightly less heavy-duty, but this really makes it perfect for van life, as a built-in bed, some camping gear, kayaks, skis and mountain bikes generally weigh well under the maximum payload capacity of any full-size van. While they aren’t nearly as common as the gas version, diesel-powered variants of the ProMaster have also been offered over the years. This one is a diesel model located in Massachusetts with under 40,000 miles on the odometer. Find a Ram ProMaster for sale

2003 Volkswagen Eurovan MV Weekender

2003 Volkswagen Eurovan MV Weekender – $18,000

The last of the Volkswagen vans to be sold in the United States, the Eurovan was offered during the 1990s and into the early 2000s. Depending on who you ask, they’re either the most reliable or the least reliable vehicles in existence. But if you’re willing to venture into the treacherous territory that is VW van ownership, you should know that four versions of the Eurovan were sold in the United States. The GLS was set up like a traditional minivan with three rows of forward facing seats. The MV had a pop-out table with a fold-down bed, while the MV Weekender added a pop-top roof with room for two more people to sleep up top. Finally, Winnebago offered its own version of the Eurovan known as the Eurovan Winnebago Camper. Using a long wheelbase version of the Eurovan, the Winnebago Camper added a sink, stove, refrigerator, storage and a roof rack above the front seats. This one is an MV Weekender located in Laguna Beach, California, and despite having over 160,000 miles on the clock, still commands close to $20,000. 2005 Chevrolet Astro – $8,900

The Chevrolet Astro and its GMC Safari twin check a lot of boxes. Given their simple construction, they’re reliable and easy to fix. They also come with a boxy design that has aged well despite not being well over 20 years old. Finally, the Astro and Safari were available with all-wheel drive (AWD), making them a relative unicorn in the van life community, where 4-wheel drive (4WD) and AWD vans are generally very desirable. This one, located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, comes with 4-wheel traction, costs under $9,000 and has just 66,000 miles on the odometer. Find a Chevrolet Astro for sale

2014 Nissan NV200 – $12,000

Not to be confused with the larger truck-based NV cargo van, the NV200 is a compact runabout built on the same platform as the compact Sentra sedan. While it’s by far the smallest option on this list, it’s also easily the most economical. It’s modern, gets very reasonable fuel economy, and should be reliable and easy to fix. It can also fit in a normal sized parking spot and won’t stick out like a sore thumb in urban environments like some of these other options. The NV200 can be had on the cheap, too. This one, located in Atlanta, is the better SV trim, has under 40,000 miles on the odometer and costs just $12,000. Find a Nissan NV200 for sale

2015 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter – $40,000

No list of #vanlife vans would be complete without an appearance from the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Given that it’s generally the go-to option, Sprinters command a slight price premium over the Transit and ProMaster. Additionally, once converted, these vans can command well over six figures, regardless of whether they’re new or used, and there are currently over 50 listed on Autotrader for $100,000 or more. For a less ridiculous sum, this option located in Golden, Colorado, has 80,000 miles on the odometer and already looks the part. Find a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter for sale

  1. I’m not saying, I’ve never considered this, but my big issue is, I must have a private crapper and shower aboard and for me a van is just too small to accomplish this.  Had a fifth wheel for a while, I’ve since upgraded to a Class A.
