The Jaguar XE Project 8 Is One of the Fastest Sedans Ever

Right now, Jaguar is offering for sale a 600-horsepower version of the XE sedan. For those of you who don’t know the XE, this car is the same size as a BMW 3 Series. Consider this for a moment: Jaguar is currently offering a 3 Series-sized sedan with 600 hp.

I haven’t seen very much information out there about this car, and I’m assuming you might feel the same way. If that’s the case, here’s a little overview: this is the fastest and most powerful Jaguar ever. Ever. It has more power than the Jaguar XJ220 supercar from the 1990s. In a car the size of a 3 Series!

The basic overview of the XE Project 8, which is technically called the XE SV Project 8, is that it’s an XE with a lot of modifications, including a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 that makes 592 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. It has flared fenders, a revised body kit and a truly massive wing, all of which combines to make it a car that looks about as impressive in person as on paper.

Not that you’re likely to see one in person, as the XE Project 8 starts from around $190,000 — a truly massive amount of money, especially for a vehicle based on the entry-level Jaguar XE. But for those numbers, it makes sense. It’s also a wildly limited car, as Jaguar is making just 300 for the entire world — it’s likely they decided they couldn’t easily sell any additional units, given the price tag.

I haven’t tracked down one of these to review yet, but I’d love to because it’s just such an insane concept — and I hope it spurs other automakers to create similarly crazy vehicles. Find a Jaguar XE for sale
