Porsche Set a World Record for Driving Nowhere

Someone drove around and around in a circle for 55 minutes, and it’s news.

Porsche has set a new world record for drift time in an electric car to be more precise. This has been certified by Guinness. A very dizzy Porsche Experience Center chief instructor Dennis Retera held a pre-production version of the Porsche Taycan EV in a continuous drift for nearly an hour, at an average speed of 28.6 mph.

Under the watchful eye of several judges, including European drift champion Denise Ritzmann, the Taycan completed 210 laps of Porsche’s 200-foot skidpad with the front wheels turned right as the vehicle circled left. Sprinklers kept the track slick, which detracts from the accomplishment for some.

Our editors have had some seat time in the Tesla rival and found it, ironically, grippy and precise in the corners. Find a Porsche Taycan for sale
