- Updated 2015 Ford Focus ST hatchback officially revealed
- 2015 Focus ST offers revised styling, new features
- Latest Focus ST updated for better handling and steering feel
Ford has officially lifted the cover off an updated version of its Focus ST hatchback. The sporty 5-door hot hatch has been refreshed for the 2015 model year, retaining last year’s engine but touting new features, new styling and an updated chassis.
On the outside, the latest Focus ST will be easily distinguished from today’s model due to its revised front and rear styling. In back, there’s a new bumper with a more aggressive appearance, while a new front end increases the size of the car’s lower grilles for a bolder, sportier look.
Inside, the Focus ST also sports a few important updates. The primary change is a new center control stack, which Ford says is more intuitive than last year’s unit, partially due to a smaller number of buttons. A heated, flat-bottomed steering wheel is also newly available for the 2015 model year.
In addition to the heated steering wheel, the Focus ST will carry a few more new features for 2015. There are newly standard LED running lights, for example, while ST2 and ST3 models add standard HID headlights. There are newly available stripes, offered in black or red, and there’s a smart-charging USB port that charges devices twice as quickly as the old USB charger.
Under the skin, the 2015 Focus ST offers some changes aimed at improving the hatchback’s performance. There are improved front springs and sportier suspension damping for better handling, while revised electric power steering enhances the ST’s steering feel. Under the hood, the Focus ST will keep last year’s 252-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine.
Although Ford has not yet announced pricing for the 2015 Focus ST, we suspect that it will start just a little higher than the current model, which is available from around $25,000 with shipping. If you’re interested in the 2015 Focus ST, expect sales to start this fall.
What it means to you: The 2015 Ford Focus ST offers a litany of updates for drivers interested in a sporty hatchback.
