2022 Hyundai Venue: Choosing the Right Trim

The biggest news for the tidy 2022 Hyundai Venue is that Hyundai rechristened its top trim level Limited. Although it is keeping the top-tier grade’s signature Denim exterior color combination, Hyundai is retiring Denim as the grade’s designation. Limited it is.

Otherwise, the Venue has no earth-shattering changes for 2022.

It remains Hyundai’s entry-level crossover, sneaking under the Hyundai Kona (somewhat of a pipsqueak itself) in girth and base price.

Up against the likes of the Nissan Kicks, Toyota C-HR, and Kia Soul, Venue’s target audience is young, urban-dwelling adults. You know, people more concerned with a vehicle’s mileage and ease of parking than its towing capacity.

And that’s good, because its 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine only puts out 121 horsepower and 113 lb-ft of peak torque. An automatic transmission directs engine output to the front wheels. As with those above-mentioned rivals, the Venue does not offer all-wheel drive.

Performance may not be its thing, but solid fuel economy is. The government estimates peg Venue’s fuel efficiency at 30 miles per gallon city, 33 mpg highway, and 31 mpg combined.

Hyundai offers the Venue in three trim levels: SE, SEL, and Limited. The Venue is furnished for five passengers, but adults will find the second-row seat a tight squeeze.

We are impressed with the level of driver aids available even in the base SE. Hyundai always tells a value story.

2022 Hyundai Venue SE (starting at $18,900)

Sure, Hyundai engineered the Venue for easy parking, but there are plenty of good reasons to stay inside it, too.

At the center of the infotainment system is an 8-inch touchscreen. A 4-speaker audio system includes HD Radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

Bluetooth with voice recognition is standard. There are USB and MP3 auxiliary input jacks, as well.

Among the other standard equipment are 15-inch alloy wheels, auto on-off headlights, power outboard mirrors, power door locks, power windows, a 60/40 split-folding second-row seat, cruise control, and air conditioning.

Included in the SE’s base price are forward-collision warning with emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, high-beam assist, and Driver Attention Warning.

Beyond dealer-installed accessories, the Venue SE doesn’t offer any options.

Adding the $1,185 destination fee to the SE’s base price brings the total to an estimated $20,085. Putting no money down and financing for 60 months at a 3% interest rate works out to a monthly payment of $361 per month. Find a 2022 Hyundai Venue SE for sale

2022 Hyundai Venue SE includes:

  • Automatic transmission – Venue gets a continuously variable transmission (CVT), forsaking gears for pulleys and belts to maximize engine efficiency. In other words, the transmission doesn’t shift.
  • HD Radio – Using a digital signal, a local radio station can provide free additional programming, improved sound quality, and display more information on the touchscreen.
  • Driver Attention Warning – Monitors the vehicle’s lane positioning, steering input, and the amount of time since your last break to determine if you are in need of a break. If so, it notifies you.

2022 Hyundai Venue SEL (starting at $20,650)

Spending the extra cash to move up to the SEL seems like a no-brainer to us.

The SEL trim adds to or improves upon the SE content with 17-inch. alloy wheels, a sunroof, dual USB ports, a 6-speaker audio system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a leather shift knob.

Among other standard fare are automatic climate control and blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert.

Checking the box for the $2,350 Premium Package adds extras like LED lighting (headlights, daytime running lights, and taillights), Proximity Key with push-button start, an 8-inch touchscreen with navigation, Blue Link connected-car system, and heated outboard mirrors.

Adding the $1,185 destination fee to the SEL’s estimated base price totals $21,835. Financing that amount with no money down for 60 months at 3% interest translates into a monthly payment of $392. Find a 2022 Hyundai Venue SEL for sale

2022 Hyundai Venue SEL includes:

  • Automatic climate control – Set it and forget it: The system automatically maintains the preset temperature.
  • Blind-spot monitor – Using sensors, it alerts you to vehicles coming up on your flanks.
  • Sunroof – This just became standard on SEL for 2022. It was an option in 2021. Power operated, it is a glass panel in the roof that opens and closes with the push of an overhead switch.

2022 Hyundai Venue Limited (starting at $22,150)

Hyundai renamed its Denim grade Limited for 2022.

Although the Denim exterior with a white roof and Denim interior is still available for the Limited, so are the other color combinations offered for Venue.

With the exception of the SEL’s sunroof, the Limited gets all of the SEL standard content plus the features included in the Premium Package as standard.

The single feature included on Limited but unavailable on SEL is the upgraded Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection.

Adding the $1,185 destination fee to the Limited’s estimated base price brings the total to $23,335. Financing that amount with no money down for 60 months at 3% interest works out to a monthly payment of $419. Find a 2022 Hyundai Venue Limited for sale

2022 Hyundai Venue Limited includes:

  • Proximity Key – Allows the unlocking of the car doors with the key fob in a pocket or purse. It includes push-button start.
  • Blue Link – An app on your smartphone that allows interfacing with your Venue. It can remote start the car with temperature control, remote lock or unlock the doors, locate your vehicle, and more.
  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist – An upgraded version, it uses a front-pointed camera and radar. The system senses when the vehicle is closing in on an object (car, pedestrian, or cyclist) and issues a warning. If the driver doesn’t respond, it will apply the brakes.
