2022 Infiniti QX50: Choosing the Right Trim

On its return, the 2022 Infiniti QX50 provides some updating in standard features, but nothing particularly earthshattering.

However, Infiniti made the top-end Autograph trim level available in all-wheel drive (AWD) only.

It also made wireless Apple CarPlay, rear-door keyless entry, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror standard on all grades.

We like the QX50 for its spunky turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, an impressive bundle of driver aids, and eye-popping styling.

Among the rivals arrayed against QX50 are the Audi Q5, BMW X3, and Acura RDX.

Infiniti presents QX50 in five trim levels Pure, Luxe, Essential, Sensory, and Autograph.

A 268-horsepower 2.0-liter variable-compression (VC) turbocharged 4-cylinder engine provides the thrust. VC helps maximize fuel economy and power.

An automatic transmission with paddle shifters transfers power to the wheels. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard on all but Autograph versions. All-wheel drive is optional ($2,000) on all but Autograph.

According to government estimates, FWD versions deliver 23 miles per gallon in the city, 29 mpg on the highway, and 26 mpg in combined driving. Each number drops by 1 mpg with AWD.
