Lexus tinkered a bit with the 2022 Lexus ES. A mild update includes the headlights and grille on the outside and adding touchscreen capability to its infotainment screens inside.
Standard across all ES variants is Safety System+ 2.5. For 2022, Lexus expanded it to include technology warning of oncoming traffic when making a left-hand turn. Another enhancement is in the adaptive cruise control, automatically reducing speed in curves.
Also notable is the addition of the F Sport grade to the ES 300h hybrid (HEV) version.
Definitely skewed toward ride quality and a luxury experience, ES provides upscale interior appointments, a library-quiet cabin, and lots of technology.

Power & Fuel Economy
A 203-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine delivers output to all four wheels (AWD) via an 8-speed automatic transmission. Three drive modes (Normal, Eco, and Sport) are standard.
The government estimates ES 250 fuel economy at 25 miles per gallon in the city, 34 mpg on the highway, and 28 mpg in combined driving.
Also employing the 8-speed automatic, the front-wheel-drive (FWD) ES 350 sources power from a 302-hp 3.5-liter V6.
Its estimated fuel economy is 22 mpg city/32 mpg highway/32 mpg combined. Opting for the F Sport grade drops the numbers to 22 mpg city/31 mpg highway/25 mpg combined.
The ES 300h also uses the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine but pairs it with an electric motor and battery pack. Combined, the motor and engine generate 215 hp. As is often the case with HEVs, the automatic transmission spinning the front wheels is continuously variable (CVT).
Its fuel economy numbers jump to 43 mpg city/44 mpg highway/44 mpg combined.
2022 Lexus ES 250 (starting at $40,800)
The 2022 Lexus ES 250 starts at $40,800.
It includes AWD, 17-inch alloy wheels, bi-LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, and power outboard mirrors with integrated turn signals.
The other content is perforated faux-leather seating, 10-way power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a power moonroof.
A driver-configurable 7-inch multi-informational display screen, Wi-Fi capability, and keyless entry with push-button start are also standard.
The infotainment system has an 8-inch touchscreen, a 10-speaker Pioneer audio system, multiple USB ports, Bluetooth, and satellite radio capability. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard.
The Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 is standard. It includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with steering assist, and road-sign assist. Enhanced lane-tracing assist, left-turn intersection support, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert are also included.
High-beam assist and adaptive cruise control are standard, as well.
The Premium Package ($2,410) adds heated-ventilated front seats, rain-sensing wipers, a power-adjustable steering wheel, front-rear park assist, and more.
