2022 Lexus RC: Choosing the Right Trim

Nothing has changed for the 2022 Lexus RC from last year.

It remains a fine luxury sport coupe vying for attention in a group of highly competitive rivals like the BMW 4 Series, Infiniti Q60, and Audi A5.

We like its drop-dead gorgeous styling, available all-wheel drive (AWD), well-furnished cabin, and bullet-proof reliability.

Lexus offers the RC in five trim levels: RC 300, RC 300 AWD, RC 350, RC 350 AWD, and RC F.

Beyond engines, transmissions, horsepower, and torque, virtually nothing differentiates the first four grades from one another. Consequently, standard content is about the same.

A turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine married to an 8-speed automatic transmission motivates the RWD RC 300.

Government-estimated fuel economy is 21 miles per gallon in the city, 31 mpg on the highway, and 25 mpg combined.

The RC 300 AWD, RC 350, and RC 350 AWD source their power from a 3.5-liter V6.

In the RC 300 AWD and RC 350 AWD, the V6 is combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The RWD RC 350 gets the 8-speed tranny.

The estimated mileage for the AWD versions of the RC 300 and RC 350 is 19 mpg/26 mpg/22 mpg. For the RWD RC 350, it’s 20/28/23.

Filling the RC F with zoom is a 5.0-liter V8. The 8-speed automatic transmission transfers engine production to the rear wheels.

Mileage is an estimated 16 mpg/24 mpg/19 mpg.

If we were doing the choosing, we would go with the RC 300 AWD F Sport. Yes, it is $5,000 more than the RC 300. However, you get the V6, AWD, and all the toys packed into the F Sport bundle. In other words, it’s a bargain.

The infotainment system has a 7-inch touchscreen, a 10-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, voice command capability, HD radio, and satellite radio capability.

Wi-Fi hotspot capability, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Alexa capability are also standard.

Several Lexus Enform features are also included. They can do everything from summoning roadside assistance and first responders to providing directions (in vehicles with navigation).

The driver aids are forward-collision warning with auto emergency braking, lane-departure warning with steering assist, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

Adaptive cruise control and high-beam assist are also standard.

Lexus offers loads of options and option packages. For instance, the Navigation with Mark Levinson Audio Package ($2,725) adds a navigation system and a 17-speaker surround-sound audio system.

A power sunroof will set you back ($1,100).

Adding the $1,075 destination fee to the RC base price brings the total to $43,295. With no money down, financing for 60 months at 3% interest works out to a monthly payment of $778. See 2022 Lexus RC models for sale

2022 Lexus RC includes:

  • LED exterior lighting – This includes projector headlights with auto on-off and taillights. LEDs illuminate a wider and longer area than regular incandescent lights. That means they are also easier for other drivers to see.
  • Keyless entry – If the key fob is on your person, the doors automatically unlock as you approach. Push-button start is usually paired with keyless entry.
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – Allows these smartphone features to interface with your vehicle.

2022 Lexus RC AWD (starting at $45,010)

Whether the F Sport is an option package or a trim-level designation remains a bit murky. However, F Sport does bring a lot of goodies with it. Therefore, we’ve broken it out.

Picking F Sport adds front heated-ventilated bolstered sport seats with memory for the driver’s seat, outboard mirrors, and the power tilt-telescopic steering wheel.

It also includes auto-dimming outboard mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, F-Sport suspension tuning, an Adaptive Variable Suspension, and unique 19-inch alloy wheels.

Navigation, aluminum pedals, a black headliner, special exterior cues, and LFA-inspired instrumentation are standard, as well.

The overachiever among its RC siblings, the RC F puts a greater emphasis on performance.

It builds on the RC with the V8 engine, 19-inch BBS aluminum wheels, a multi-information display with a lap timer, G-Force, and more.

A speed-activated rear wing and a power tilt-telescopic steering wheel are also standard.

Maybe if you submit your order early enough, you can score one of the 50 limited
RC F Fuji Speedway Editions. It uses a version of the RC F’s V8.

Engineers have employed a bag of tricks to lighten the RC F’s load. Containing many of the RC F Sport’s features, it adds a few of its own.

These include six-piston front and four-piston rear Brembo brakes, aerodynamic body pieces, and triple-beam LED headlights, to name a few.

Adding the $1,075 destination fee to the RC F base price brings the total to $66,795. With no money down, financing for 60 months at 3% interest works out to $1,200 a month. See 2022 Lexus RC F models for sale

2022 Lexus RC F includes:

  • 5.0L V8 – This V8 produces 472 horsepower.
