2022 Lincoln Corsair: Choosing the Right Trim

The youngest member of the Lincoln lineup, the 2022 Lincoln Corsair rolls into the model year with a couple of new option packages. Otherwise, it’s unchanged.

Planting Lincoln’s flag in the highly competitive luxury compact crossover segment, Corsair is up against the Acura RDX, BMW X3, and Audi Q3, among a host of others.

We are impressed with its powertrains, sliding second-row seats, and handsome styling.

We also like that the suite of driver aids in the guise of Co-Pilot360 is standard on every Corsair. The suite includes forward collision warning with auto emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, and lane-departure alert. Also included are high-beam assist and rear parking sensors.

Lincoln offers Corsair in Standard, Reserve, and Grand Touring (a plug-in hybrid [PHEV]).

All-wheel drive (AWD) is optional ($2,300) on Standard and Reserve, but standard on Grand Touring.

Power and Fuel Economy

A 2.0-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine is the base engine for Standard and Reserve grades.

No matter the gasoline-fueled engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission distributes engine power to the wheels.

The Standard and Reserve qualify for the 2.3-liter turbocharged-4 engine upgrade. However, opting for the more powerful engine requires adding AWD, as well.

Another hitch for adding the 2.3-liter to the Standard is it’s only available as part of the Sport Package. That package is loaded with a bunch of unrelated frills.

Adding the Sport Package plus AWD boosts the Standard bottom line by $6,350.

Opting for the 2.3-liter engine in the Reserve only requires adding AWD. Doing so bumps up the total price by $4,700.

With the 2.0-liter engine and front-wheel drive (FWD), the government estimates the fuel economy at 22 miles per gallon in the city, 29 mpg on the highway, and 25 mpg in combined driving. Opting for AWD doesn’t have much impact on mileage. The estimates are 21/29/24.

AWD and the 2.3-liter engine only lose 1 mpg in highway driving to 21/28/24.

We discuss the hybrid powertrain below.

2022 Lincoln Corsair Standard (starting at $36,105)

Included features in the Standard are 18-inch aluminum wheels, auto on-off LED headlights, LED taillights, a power liftgate, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Also included are a 6.5-inch color cluster display, a 10-way power driver’s seat, an 8-way power passenger seat, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped tilt and telescopic steering wheel.

Among its other content are an auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated power outboard mirrors, keyless entry with push-button start, and remote start.

The infotainment system includes the SYNC 3 media interface with voice recognition, an 8-inch touchscreen, a 10-speaker audio system, four USB ports, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

Co-Pilot360’s suite of driver aids is also standard.

For an extra $2,500, you can expand the driver-aid features with the Co-Pilot360 1.5 Plus Package. It adds forward/side/rear parking sensors, surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist, and speed-sign recognition. Also among its features are reverse brake assist, Evasive Steering Assist, and Active Park Assist 2.0 that steers you into a parallel or perpendicular parking spot.

Adding the $1,095 destination fee to the Standard base price equals $37,200. With no money down, financing that amount for 60 months at 3% interest works out to $668 per month. Find a 2022 Lincoln Corsair Standard for sale.

2022 Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring (starting at $50,330)

A plug-in hybrid (PHEV), the Grand Touring replaces the gasoline-fueled engine with a hybrid system.

Consisting of a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder gas engine, a lithium-ion battery array, and two electric motors, the government estimates the Grand Touring’s electric-only range at 28 miles before the gasoline engine kicks in.

The government assesses vehicles that can run on battery power alone with a formula called miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe).

In the case of the Grand Touring, it’s electric-only mileage is 78 MPGe. There are no city or highway estimates yet for the mileage when Grand Touring operates like a regular hybrid. However, the combined number is 33 mpg.

To the Reserve’s standard gear, the Grand Touring adds a panoramic sunroof with an electric sunshade and an adaptive suspension.

You can add the Co-Pilot360 1.5 Plus Package. The Luxury Package is also available.

Unique to Grand Touring is the Elements Technology Bundle ($3,900). Containing most features from the Reserve’s Technology Package, it adds content like rain-sensing wipers.

Adding the $1,095 destination fee to the Grand Touring base price brings the total to $51,425. Financing that amount with no money down for 60 months at 3% interest works out to $924 per month. Find a 2022 Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring for sale.
