It’s not exciting, but it gets the job done while still offering up great value, good options, and available all-wheel drive on every trim. The base L model is nicely equipped, but LE and XLE trims drop in even more nice-to-haves.
The good news is you don’t have to pick between different engine versions, as all Corolla Cross models are fitted with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder. It produces 169 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. You’ll need to spend $1,300 more for all-wheel drive, though. But when you do, the Corolla Cross swaps out the rear torsion beam suspension setup for a proper multi-link. It also earns what Toyota calls Dynamic Torque Control. This allows the Corolla Cross to send up to 50% of the available power to the rear wheels as needed. When not needed, it disengages the rear wheels, so power only goes to the front wheels and helps keeps fuel economy… economical.
