The 2023 Genesis Electrified G80 is a premium midsize luxury sedan with an all-electric powertrain. It’s roomy and loaded with modern luxury, safety, and tech features.
It also doesn’t burn any gasoline. In a growing field of electric luxury cars, the Genesis Electrified G80 has few direct competitors. Its $79,825 starting price slots it between more affordable players in this class like the Tesla Model 3 and BMW i4 and more high-end electric luxury sedans like the Tesla Model S, Mercedes-Benz EQS, and Porsche Taycan.
The Genesis Electrified G80 is powered by two electric motors mated to an 87.2-kWh battery. Total output: 365 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. Estimated range: 282 miles. Expected EPA combined fuel economy: 97 MPGe.
As of this writing, the Electrified G80 is available from dealers in eight states: California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and Washington.
For the 2023 model year, the Electrified G80 only has one trim, and it’s equipped similarly to a fully-loaded gas-powered G80. Let’s take a look at what comes included in the sole trim of the Genesis Electrified G80.
2023 Genesis Electrified G80 (starting at $79,825)
The Genesis Electrified G80 is a well-equipped luxury sedan. Its dual-motor powertrain gives it standard all-wheel drive (AWD). It stands out aesthetically with a unique front bumper, a G-matrix-patterned front grille, and exclusive 19-inch turbine wheels.
Other features exclusive to the Electrified G80 include an i-Pedal single-pedal driving mode, a smart, regenerative braking system with three deceleration settings, and a unique digital gauge cluster with an i-Pedal symbol and regenerative braking gauge.
Desirable standard features in this electric luxury sedan include four drive modes (Eco, Comfort, Sport, Custom), an electronically controlled suspension with road preview, LED headlights and taillights, power door closure, and a hands-free power trunk. Inside, you’ll find Nappa leather seats (heated and cooled in front), a heated steering wheel, 3-zone climate control, matte-finish wood interior trim, an Ergo Motion driver’s seat, rear sunshades, and ambient interior lighting.
The high-tech roster is highlighted by an infotainment system with a 14.5-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, navigation, SiriusXM, and HD Radio. You also get a Lexicon premium audio system, active noise control, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a wireless charging pad, Genesis Digital Key, a head-up display, and four USB ports.
As you’d expect, standard safety features abound. In addition to automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic assist, the Electrified G80 comes with the Highway Driving Assist semi-autonomous driving system, adaptive cruise control, speed limit assist, driver attention warning, automatic high beams, a surround-view monitor, parking sensors, safe exit assist, and rear occupant alert. And with remote smart parking assist, you can remotely move this electric G80 in and out of tight parking spots via an app on your phone.
While the Electrified G80 isn’t necessarily a sports sedan, we found it to be thoroughly enjoyable on winding mountain roads, aided by excellent grip and precise steering. It was also fun to experiment with the adjustable regenerative braking. Via paddles on the steering wheel, you can cycle from no regen to a setting that allows one-pedal driving.
Note: In collaboration with Electrify America, Genesis offers three years of 30-minute complimentary charging sessions. This period begins on the date of vehicle purchase.
After applying a $1,095 destination fee, the starting price of the Electrified G80 comes to $80,920 before any federal or state tax incentives. Assuming a 60-month loan at 3% interest with no trade-in or down payment, the Electrified G80 would start at about $1,454/month. See 2023 Genesis Electric G80 models for sale
