2024 Jeep Gladiator: Choosing the Right Trim

The 2024 Jeep Gladiator combines the utility of a pickup with the terrain-tackling prowess of the venerable Jeep Wrangler, creating a multipurpose off-roader ideal for those who like to bring lots of toys to their outdoor excursions.

Unlike the Wrangler, the Gladiator doesn’t offer the 4xe hybrid powerplant. That leaves the 285-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 as the sole power source.

Jeeps builds five main trims and numerous sub-trims, allowing Gladiator buyers wide latitude regarding features, options, and visual appeal. And, although you can’t remove the doors, top, and windshield from the following competitors, the Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road, Ford Ranger Raptor, and Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison are worthy alternatives.

Prices are current estimates at the time of publishing.

What’s New:

The 2024 Jeep Gladiator gets several improvements, starting with standard side-curtain airbags covering the first and second rows and a new 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. Sport S and higher trims gain forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with stop feature, a Gorilla Glass windshield, 17-inch alloy wheels, and power windows and door locks.

The Willys trim gains 32-inch mud terrain tires, a locking rear differential, steel rock rails, and LED fog lights.

The Rubicon gains a new Dana 44 full-float rear axle and an available 8,000-pound-capacity Warn winch. Further options include a 12-way power driver’s seat and new wheel designs. New Rubicon X and Mojave X packages are added, while the diesel engine is dropped, leaving only the 3.6-liter V6.

Our Recommendation:

We’d pick the Sport S, which gets 17-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, power windows, power door locks, a power tailgate lock, remote keyless entry, automatic headlights, and fog lamps. It’s also available with the Dual Top Group featuring soft and hard tops, navigation, and a 522-watt 9-speaker Alpine Premium audio system.

If serious off-roading is your goal, then the Gladiator Rubicon is the best choice.

2024 Jeep Gladiator Sport: $39,000 (estimate)

Like all Gladiator trims, the Sport has a 285-hp 3.6-liter V6 engine. In the Sport, the V6 pairs with a 6-speed manual transmission and Jeep’s Command-Trac part-time shift-on-the-fly 4-wheel drive (4WD).

An 8-speed automatic is optional and includes Jeep Selec-Speed, which acts like a low-speed cruise control when driving in low-range 4WD.

Jeep equips the Sport with heavy-duty Dana 44 axles, brakes, and shocks, with skid plates covering the 22-gallon fuel tank and transfer case to ensure its off-road cred is warranted.

There’s a Class II trailer hitch, a 7- and 4-pin wiring harness, trailer sway control, plus front and rear tow hooks.

Optional upgrades include a limited-slip rear differential, a cold-air intake system, and a 4:10:1 axle ratio.

The Sport features 17-inch steel wheels with 32-inch all-season tires and full steel doors with manual windows and an old-fashioned key-operated door lock. Also standard are fog lights, manual side mirrors, variable wipers, and a full-size spare mounted under the truck bed.

Jeep’s Premium Sunrider soft top features a removable rear window, and you can remove the entire top for actual open-air adventuring.

Inside the cabin, you’ll find a push-button starter, manual air conditioning, and manual cloth bucket seats with driver’s side height adjustment and two-way lumbar support. You also get a tilt/telescoping steering wheel with Bluetooth, audio, and cruise controls.

The Gladiator Sport comes standard with an 8-speaker AM/FM radio connected to the Uconnect 4 infotainment system with a 12.3-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, as do integrated voice control, two USB ports, and an auxiliary audio input jack.

SiriusXM satellite radio is optional.

Safety equipment includes a rear backup camera, electronic traction and stability control, electronic roll mitigation, front seat-mounted side airbags, two-row side curtain airbags, and hill start assist.

The Sport offers several exterior upgrades. These include half doors with removable plastic windows, the Freedom Top 3-piece hardtop roof, a spray-in bedliner, and hard or soft bed covers.

A mirror-off kit fixes the side mirrors to the body, which is necessary when removing the doors. Also notable: The Sunrider soft top can be attached to the Freedom Top hardtop, creating a manual sliding roof directly above the driver.

The Sport offers a few packages, primarily aimed at towing.

The Trailer Tow Package features heavy-duty engine cooling, a Class IV hitch, and Jeep’s Trailer-Hitch Zoom, which uses the rear camera to project a view over the hitch with 4x zoom capability.

The Max Tow Package adds more features, such as a limited-slip differential, heavy-duty Dana 44 wide axles, a 4:10:1 rear axle, and heavy-duty brakes. With this package, the Gladiator’s tow rating increases to 6,250 pounds.

With the $1,795 destination charge, the 2024 Jeep Gladiator Sport has an estimated price of around $42,000. On a 60-month loan at 5% financing and $0 down, the monthly payment comes to about $793. See 2024 Jeep Gladiator Sport models for sale near you

2024 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon: $52,000 (estimate)

In the Jeep world, the Rubicon name symbolizes the ultimate in off-road ability. For the Gladiator, that means a beefed-up suspension and drivetrain, as well as more visual upgrades like its dual-vented hood, red tow hooks, and Rubicon decals.

Underneath, you’ll find Tru-Lok electronic locking front and rear differentials, a 4:10:1 rear axle ratio, heavy-duty Dana 44 wide axles, and Jeep’s Rock-Trac part-time 4WD system with a 4:1 low gear ratio.

The Rubicon features an electronic disconnecting front sway bar for greater wheel articulation, Fox 2.0 performance shocks, and 17-inch wheels wearing 33-inch all-terrain tires.

Included in the terrain mode settings is one for Off-Road Plus, which enables the rear axle to be locked in high range, a big help when driving through sand or snow.

Standard amenities for the Rubicon include the Uconnect 4C Nav infotainment system, Alpine Premium audio, automatic climate control, a configurable 7-inch instrument cluster, a 115-volt outlet, and an off-road switch bank.

Rubicon buyers can opt for a 4:1 Rock-Trac full-time 4WD system, a winch-capable steel front bumper, a forward-facing camera, mud-terrain tires, and leather seats.

New for 2024 is the Rubicon X Package. This upgrade adds numerous amenities, including heated 12-way power leather-trimmed seats, a body-colored hard top with a headliner, and the contents from the Convenience Group, Technology Group, and Safety Group.

2024 Jeep Gladiator Mojave: $52,000 (estimate)

Looking for a Gladiator with more of a desert vibe? Check out the Mojave. With a little of Overland’s luxury and the Rubicon’s off-road ability, the Mojave touts an integrated hood scoop, 17-inch gloss black wheels, and 33-inch all-terrain tires.

It borrows the heavy-duty Dana 44 wide front and rear axles from the Rubicon and the 4:10:1 rear axle but retains the base model’s Command-Trac part-time 4WD.

The Off-Road Plus mode and Fox external reservoir shock absorbers further the Mojave’s off-road credentials. Two-piece high-clearance black fender flares allow for larger tires, while cab rock rails help protect the Gladiator when off-roading.

Other standard equipment includes a 400-watt inverter, a power tailgate lock, off-road info pages, the Uconnect 4C navigation radio, the Alpine premium sound system, and a sport bar with full padding.

For 2024, the Mojave gets a new X Package similar to the Rubicon X Package.
