The 2024 Kia Seltos may look small outside, but it packs a big punch. Slotting between the Kia Soul and Sportage, the Seltos offers five trim levels, three with standard all-wheel drive (AWD) and two with a potent turbocharged engine. Better still, there’s only a $5,000 difference between the entry-level LX and top-of-the-line SX, making its more expensive trims feel like a relative bargain.
Along with some pretty sharp styling, the Seltos offers several features uncommon in this class. It also comes standard with a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
We wish adaptive cruise control, a standard feature on some rivals, was not only offered on the SX.

2024 Kia Seltos LX: $24,390
The entry-level LX features a 146-horsepower 2.0-liter engine, a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), and standard all-wheel drive (AWD). This same engine also provides power to the S and EX trims.
All Seltos models equipped with AWD have an independent multilink rear suspension, making them better to handle SUVs than their front-drive counterparts. They also feature torque vectoring for improved cornering, plus a center lock that mimics a locking center differential at low speeds for improved traction in off-road situations.
To ensure a safe driving experience, the Seltos LX includes forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, a driver-attention monitor, and a rearview camera.
The LX features 17-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, automatic headlight control with automatic high beams, front and rear skid plates, variable intermittent wipers, a rear wiper/washer, remote keyless entry, and power-adjustable side mirrors.
The LX’s handsome cabin includes a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, a 4.2-inch digital instrument display, one-touch auto-down driver’s window, manual air conditioning with rear seat vents, and cloth upholstery covering manual front seats and a 60/40-split folding and reclining rear seat.

Building off the LX, the Seltos S adds roof rails, heated side view mirrors, fog lights, and satin chrome exterior trim.
Kia’s Smart Key keyless entry uses a proximity key fob that lets you unlock the door and start the car so long as the fob is somewhere near the vehicle, such as in a purse or pocket. It also includes a remote start function.
Additional safety equipment includes a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic detection with braking, and a safe-exit warning that prevents passengers from opening their doors when detecting vehicles approaching from the rear.
The S features a larger 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with a matching 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation and Kia Connect apps.

The X-Line is the more rugged-looking member of the Seltos lineup. Building off the S trim, the X-Line features black roof rails, 18-inch gloss-black alloy wheels, a unique front grille, and gunmetal gray skid plates. It’s no more capable off-road than the others, but it looks like it is.
It’s also the first Seltos in the pricing hierarchy to feature the more potent, 195-hp 1.6-liter turbocharged engine. It’s matched with an 8-speed automatic transmission, which has some performance advantages compared to the “gearless” CVT in the standard powertrain.
Inside, the X-Line gains heated front seats.
