Affectionately nicknamed the Disco, the 2024 Land Rover Discovery carries on its reputation as a modern luxury SUV with some serious off-road capabilities. Priced in the same range as the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland, Lexus GX, and Volvo XC90, the Discovery is undoubtedly competitive. However, its aging interior design isn’t as modern or high-tech as some rivals.
For 2024, Land Rover simplifies the Discovery lineup, offering three trims: S, Dynamic SE, and Metropolitan. All three provide 7-passenger seating and standard all-wheel drive (AWD). The S trim derives power from a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder, good for 296 horsepower. The Dynamic SE offers a choice between the 2.0-liter or a turbocharged 3.0-liter gas engine and a 48-volt mild hybrid system, developing a healthy 355 hp. The 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine comes standard in the Metropolitan trim.

2024 Land Rover Discovery S: $59,900
Like its fellow Discovery stablemates, the S trim comes standard with all-wheel drive and Land Rover’s Terrain Response that includes settings for Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud, Sand, and Rock Crawl. The Adaptive Dynamics suspension constantly adjusts damping, so your ride is always smooth and controlled.
The Discovery S rides on handsome 20-inch alloy wheels and features hill-start assist, auto on/off LED headlights with auto high beams, LED taillights, front and rear fog lights, and heated power-folding outboard mirrors with driver’s-side auto-dimming.
There’s also a panoramic roof with a power sliding front panel and fixed glass rear panel, rain-sensing wipers, proximity keyless entry, a power liftgate, and rear privacy glass.
Moving to the interior reveals DuoLeather upholstery covering the first two rows, an 18-way power-adjustable heated driver’s seat with memory, a 14-way power passenger seat, and a manual sliding, power-folding second-row seat with a power recline feature.
Also included are tri-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, keyless entry with push-button start, a digital driver information display, and a heated power-adjustable tilt/telescoping steering wheel.
Within the infotainment system are an 11.4-inch touchscreen, a 12-speaker 400-watt Meridian audio system, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. A wireless charging pad and Pivi Pro connected services are also standard fare.
Among the driver aids are forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-keeping assist. Also standard are traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, and a surround-view camera.
Wade Sensing uses sonar pods in the exterior mirrors to gauge water depth, so you’ll never get in over your head.
The Cold Climate Pack ($1,000) adds 60/40 power-folding heated third-row seats, a heated windshield, and heated windshield washer jets.
Adding the Comfort Pack ($2,100) gains you a front-console cooler, configurable ambient lighting, a power-operated inner tailgate, and quad-zone automatic climate control.
Plenty of other options and packages include a head-up display, several wheel upgrades, roof rails, and a trailer tow package.

2024 Land Rover Discovery S includes:
Terrain Response – This is Land Rover’s driver-controlled driving mode system. It oversees the air suspension, throttle, and AWD system.
Tri-zone automatic climate control – Separating the vehicle into three areas (front right, front left, and rear) allows the temperature to be set in each area. It then automatically maintains those preset temperatures.
Auto-dimming mirrors – Using photosensors, they recognize bright headlights approaching from behind. They then automatically dim the reflection of those lights. Included are the rearview and driver’s-side outboard mirrors.
2024 Land Rover Discovery Dynamic SE: $64,100
Building off the S, the Land Rover Discovery Dynamic SE offers an optional engine upgrade to the 3.0-liter mild hybrid 6-cylinder.
Land Rover then adds 21-inch alloy wheels wearing all-terrain tires, a black contrast roof, and the contents from the Exterior Pack.
Optional equipment includes an Advanced Off-Road Capability Pack, which adds a 2-speed transfer case, All Terrain Progress Control, a locking rear differential, and the Terrain Response 2 system.
Other upgrades include 20-way heated and ventilated front seats, a power-folding heated third-row seat, and fixed side steps.

The Land Rover Discovery Metropolitan upgrades to the more powerful 3.0-liter engine and gains an adaptive air suspension, torque-vectoring AWD, 22-inch alloy wheels, and all-terrain tires.
Several options on lower grades, such as the head-up display, quad-zone automatic climate control, Windsor leather upholstery, and front-console cooler, are standard.
Also included are front fog lights, a hands-free power liftgate, a heated third-row seat, and heated and ventilated front and second-row seats.
Of the few optional upgrades, we’d choose the 20-way heated and ventilated massaging front seats.
