2024 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque: Choosing the Right Trim

The 2024 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque appeals to those who wear their cars like designer shoes. Its shape is unlike anything else on the road. Although not the best candidate for interior volume and cargo capacity, the Evoque can still accomplish most of the tasks expected from a small luxury crossover.

Available in two well-equipped trims, the Evoque stands out against rivals like the Audi Q3, BMW X1, and Volvo XC40. The S and Dynamic SE trims use the same 246-horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder mild hybrid engine, 9-speed automatic transmission, and standard all-wheel drive setup. The difference between the two boils down to exterior and interior styling and a few options.

Let’s delve a little deeper and see which Evoque trim works best for you.

What’s New:

Land Rover simplifies the Evoque lineup this year, dropping the number of trims from four to two. The high-output HST version and its 296-hp engine are no more. However, the S and new Dynamic SE receive numerous new standard features, including automatic high beams, a Meridian audio upgrade, a blind-spot monitor, and a sliding panoramic sunroof.

Our Recommendation:

We think the base S trim is all you need. You can add features and upgrades to make it even more luxurious, the same upgrades offered on the more expensive Dynamic SE.

These are the manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRP) and include the $1,175 factory-to-dealer delivery fee (destination charge). Prices are current at the time of publishing.

2024 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque S: $51,075

The Evoque S is a surprisingly well-equipped entry-level trim. With options, we think it should satisfy most Land Rover buyers.

Along with its turbocharged engine and AWD setup, the S trim includes Land Rover’s Terrain Response 2 feature. This system allows the driver to choose Auto, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud, Sand, and Rock Crawl settings.

All Terrain Progress Control maintains a steady speed uphill, downhill, and across bumpy terrain. All the driver needs to concentrate on is steering. In other words, it’s off-road cruise control.

A walk around the Evoque S exterior reveals 18-inch alloy wheels, auto-leveling LED headlights with auto high beams, front and rear fog lights, LED taillights, and a power rear liftgate.

Also included are a sliding panoramic roof, flush exterior door handles, rain-sensing wipers, approach lighting, and power-folding heated side mirrors with driver’s side auto-dimming. A proximity keyless entry system lets you unlock the doors and start the engine simply by having the fob in your purse or pocket.

Moving to the interior, we find a new 12.3-inch interactive driver display and an 11.4-inch infotainment touchscreen. The new setup integrates media, Terrain Response 2, and climate controls into a single screen, opening up more storage space and making way for a redesigned shift lever. The Evoque’s infotainment system features Pivi Pro software and connectivity apps, SiriusXM satellite radio, navigation, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

A blizzard of musical goodness comes courtesy of a 400-watt, 11-speaker Meridian sound system with a dual-channel subwoofer.

Comfort and convenience features abound, such as a power tilt/telescoping steering column with a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, a wireless charging pad, dual-zone automatic climate control, and one-touch up/down power windows.

Leathery upholstery covers a 12-way power adjustable driver’s seat, a 10-way power adjustable passenger seat, and a 40/20/40-split folding rear seat.

The Evoque’s driver aids are forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic detection, a rear backup camera, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, driver-alert monitoring, and front and rear park assist.

Land Rover allows you to add several options. For example, the Technology Pack ($1,400) includes a digital Clear Sight rearview mirror, a head-up display, and a 3D surround view monitor.

The Cold Climate Pack ($980) adds a heated windshield, heated rear seats, heated washer jets, and headlight washers. The Comfort Pack ($980) adds configurable interior lighting, rear vents with climate controls, an air purification system, and a solar attenuating windshield.

Driving enthusiasts will want the Dynamic Handling Pack ($1,050), featuring adaptive dynamics with driver-selectable settings for steering feel, shift points, and suspension settings.

High-beam assist – The high beams are always on if your vehicle has this system. The system automatically switches off the high beams when photosensors or a forward-pointed camera detects oncoming headlights or taillights. Then, it automatically switches them back on when no vehicle lights are seen.

Meridian audio system – This is a 400-watt system with 12 speakers, including a subwoofer.

Blind-spot monitoring – This radar-based system warns of traffic approaching your flanks. It also includes a rear cross-traffic alert to warn of vehicles crossing behind you when in reverse.
